A batallion of very little ants (the size of a shoe) marching and travelling together…they will ignore you , but if you approach them they will turn hostile and will attack and chase you…they are incredibly difficult to kill.

Same situation but with very tiny cazadors...

It's not technically a battle encounter...you can just watch them marching (or flying like a flock) from distance and move on. If they attack it's your fault.

Unbeknownst to Lily Bowen,

Post by StarletHologram » Thu Mar 14, 2013 1:32 pm

Unbeknownst to Lily Bowen, her grandkids are still alive...same as she, they were turned into first generation mutants. Opposite to Lily, they completely lost their prewar memories...but they haven't separated since that horrific day.

1) You can make two Supermutants called Jimmy and Becky, and you can find them together randomly while travelling in the Mojave desert. They would be non hostile, same as Jacobstown muties, and they will have generic dialogue. The idea is that when you meet them they will act no different as if you were another wastelander...even if you travel with Lily, they won't recognize her (due to their memory loss) and neither will she, because their appearance is generic (Lily's distinguishable look is a product of her prewar memories, same as Tabitha). A painful and unfortunate meeting...

Becky has that sign-gaunlet as her weapon; Jimmy can use a nail board...they are both good with melee weapons, just as her granny.

Here you have the suggested models:

Also, if you want to hide them a little, you can add two generic supermutants (not Nightkins) travelling with them, as if they are a unit.

2) You can make three Human Npc's that resemble prewar Lily and her grandkids (Laura, Jake and Bethany), travelling together in the wastes with a mercenary...the old woman could use the Brahmin-skin outfit and .32 Hunting rifle, same as Grandma Sparkles in Wilhelm's Wharf.  Their prewar NPC´s are in the Fallout.ESM database, search for prewar Lily, prewar Jimmy, Prewar Becky.

A couple dressed in Prewar costumes standing together with a pair of suitcases next to them…acting as if they were in the prewar times. Remember that Brailee Ewers acts and pretends to be living in the Prewar-world?. Same here.  They could be in two scenarios:

  1. To appear, if possible, next to the road…the man will approach you and ask you if you know when the next bus to Los Angeles is coming, because they’re taking some vacations and are very late. They will not have weapons in their inventory, as both of them think they are on a normal prewar day.2.- To appear, also if possible, only inside TTW train station in Freeside, totally oblivious to the fact the train station is in ruins and only one train is working (the one that goes to Capital Wasteland)…the woman will approach you and ask where’s the gate to the train that goes to Los Angeles, because they have first class tickets and don’t want to miss the train…

Yogui, Bubu and Ranger smith. The ladder is taking them back to Zion National Park because they escaped as usual. Both bears are non-hostile and follow and protect Ranger smith.

The lone spider drone that wanders around the Mojave Wasteland…

A group of female Powder gangers  fighting a Male NCR trooper. They may or may not attack the player depending on his/her reputation with that faction. There only two female powder gangers were cut from the game, so it will be nice to see some female members...

There are people that have it all, no matter if it’s in an post-apocalyptic era.

A rich guy and his mistress went on a trip to play golf in the Mojave Wasteland. They brought a pack of mercenaries to protect them while they are having fun. They both have  golf clubs equipped.

An non so innocent scout girl that sells cookies...she's armed with a deadly weapon. Also, she travels with a very ferocious Legion mongrel that she found being a pup long time ago and raised as her pet (and bodyguard). The mongrel attacks on sight (same as Dogmeat) and both him and the girl are essential.

A rotten corpse that has a Strip passport in its inventory and two gold bars at its side...a thief with a juicy loot...lucky you if you found it before getting to New Vegas; in either case you'll benefit.

Wow!!! That's a lot. I am now at 40 encounters (actually a bit more, 35 still to make ;) ) in the list.

These are the ones that I picked:

repeatable:

11. a dropped Bright follower (after quest is done), attached by a raw of unaggressive feral ghouls, searches for Repconn

13. Big Monster Behemoth / Deathclaw that is distracted by flies FXFlySwarm and doesn't care about surroundings

14. Merchant that hunts his Pack Molerat (new creature) which is running away.

15. Tourist couple that travels to the Wasteland (has several sub encounters, they are always in the strangest situations and don't realize it)

unique:

16. Yogui, Bubu and Ranger smith (Two nonhostiles Yagoui with a NCR Ranger)

17. Lone Spider Drone

18. Two female Powdergangers

19. Not so innocent boy scout girl (which sells cookies) and has a mongrel as companion (both of them essential)

20. Corpse that has Strip passcard and two goldbars beside him.

Don't be confused abut my numbering system it's from my internal list and I don't want to reveal all of the encounters. T keep some suprises.

@pwinkle

I want to keep it as a random encounter system and don't want to introduce fixed location for them. It's not easy to design but the encounter has to work in pretty much every possible Wasteland environment. I can make simple exclusions: like always at night or leave some absolute not fitting locations out for some encounters but I don't want the conditions to be to complex.

The tourist couple is perfect in that way because they are completely delusional. Not sure if I add them to the CW. I didn't thought about touching it at all (because it already has a very good random encounter system). But maybe I add some small references from my NV system in the CW (as fixed encounters) for the TTW version. It would be simply to funny to see them both stumbling through the CW and for example let Willow great them with her famous line ;) at the mall or take your idea for Paradise Falls where both of them only want to go shopping ;) .

I would love to see encounters mixed with the Capital Wasteland, but in my opinion if you could leave the FO3 encounter system alone it would be better. That way this mod could be used by people that doesn't use TTW. Even more, because with the changes that are being done to TTW, working with FNV only will allow you to avoid issues later.
