I am actually curious: What about body replacers? I typically use Type3, and I know it came out for both games, but would the armor meshes for the Fo3 version still work with the NV version?

They will work. But naturally they will only effect the Bethesdas armors. Armors that are added by Obsidian would stay in their original form.

This is what I'm adding to

This is what I'm adding to the FAQ... let me know if you think I missed anything:

---

For bodies and armors, you can get all of the FO3 armors working with body replacers quite nicely.  What you need are body replacers that are available for both games.  I use Type 3 for female and Breeze's for male, since those are the most widely supported.

You should use FOMM to install this stuff - just create new folders for the meshes and texture packs that you put together, then extract everything you want to use to those folders.  Then in FOMM's package manager choose "Create from folder" so that you can add your mod for Fallout New Vegas.  If you are unfamiliar with installing mods with FOMM, watch the videos (at the beginning of the FAQ) to get started.

FO3 clothes and armors: Extract and install the meshes and textures folders ONLY:

  1. Install all of the FO3 Type 3 armors and clothes (there are a bunch of patches too).

  2. Install any other FO3 Type 3 replacers: Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta and The Pitt; also any other replacers such as Leather armors and Business suits, for example.

FNV clothes and armors: Install these normally.  Make sure to OVERWRITE ALL when installing these.

  1. Install the FNV version of the Type 3 body replacer using FOMM.

  2. Install the Type 3 armor (includes clothes) (get the "armor only" version, don't forget the patches).

  3. Install the Type 3 outfits for the expansions: DM and OWB and LR and HH

  4. Install any other Type 3 armor and clothing replacements: Business suits, Leather armors, Freelancer Clothes, Sexy Sleepwear, Tribal Armor or anything else.

For males, it's the same idea, but a little less work:

  1. Install all of the FO3 Breeze's armors and clothes in your FNV folder (there are a bunch of patches too).  Extract and install the meshes and textures folders only.  DON'T install the whole mod in FOMM.

  2. Install all of the FNV Breezes files, including the body replacer and all of the patches for the expansion packs.  Install the whole mod (not just meshes and textures) with FOMM.  Make sure to OVERWRITE ALL.

I actually did a manual

Post by Sepherose » Mon Dec 24, 2012 11:48 pm

I actually did a manual install of it, here is what I did:

1. Created a temporary data folder

2. Downloaded all the type 3 clothing replacements I wanted from Fo3 Nexus

3. Unzipped them all in the order I needed to so I could get the combination I wanted into the temporary data folder

4. Downloaded and unzipped the Type 3 replacer for NV and all the clothing I wanted and unzipped them to annother temporary data folder in the order  wanted them.

5. Merged the NV replacer stuff onto the Fo3 replacer stuff

6. Copied and merged the whole package into the FNV data folder.

Works like a charm, but I am thinking that some of the raider clothing from each game uses different file structures as I have two version of some of them, Blastmaster armor as one example.

EDIT: Also did the same with NMC texture pack for both Fo3 and NV, also works like a charm.

Can't confirm this for Breeze's (I made the NV conversion) male body. Afaik is there only one set of Raider armor in both games and they should be 100% compatible.

Has anybody tried Cirosans

Post by alegendv1 » Wed Dec 26, 2012 7:09 pm

Has anybody tried Cirosans Classic Overhaul (CCO) with TTW? I'm not sure how well it would work with it. I'm going to just install CCO and Project Nevada (as CCO was designed to work with it) and test to see how it goes. The link for CCO is below.

Interesting mod list.  Did not know about A Familiar Friend.

It's cool that someone is working on continuing the Readius work and fixing the bugs, since the guy who made the original Readius hasn't updated it since 2010.  The version in A Familiar Friend looks way better.

Have you been able to do the Tranquility Lane quest and/or Operation Anchorage with A Familiar Friend?  The Readius was crashing those... if AFF works instead, that would be great to know!

I did Operation Anchorage

Post by Aconagent1 » Thu Dec 27, 2012 7:40 pm

I did Operation Anchorage with it, no problems (My FAVORITE DLC)

Haven't gotten to Tranquility Lane yet... I haven't done much of the main quest because I have a bug where when i speak to the intercom to extend the Rivet City bridge, the game crashes when it is done extending... I'll just TCL to the other side, and get back to you

Also, I had some perk mods that I didn't list before someone points out I get 2 perks a level XD

  • Combat enhancement perks

  • New Perks

  • Handgun Perks

Lastly I recently got some of the destruction mods to make things like bottles, and mini nukes breakable along with a mod to make all things with destruction data targetable

I have now done Tranquility

Post by Aconagent1 » Sat Dec 29, 2012 9:50 pm

I have now done Tranquility Lane, and Operation Anchorage with A Familiar Friend, no problems... just in TL, DO NOT look at your 2500, it will stay in your hand forever. Fun thing though, one of the mods I use lets you loot the unconscious, I beat down all of the Chinese soldiers, took their clothing and weapons before they killed all of the residents, pretty funny to watch 15 nude Asian guys chase 50's residents around
