This would take more than just placing a car into the Capital Wasteland. There's also the Gas Stations and Repair Shops you'd need to worry about.
There's also not very many actual roads throughout the wasteland so driving might not be all you think it is.
You might try searching the site here though, I thought someone might have been working on this...but that was a long time ago. Maybe it'll pickup interest.
You can disable fuel consumption. Basically, I just need to know how to spawn a car. That would be great. Would be great too if someone could convert the mod, but for the time being, I would be content with a quick and dirty fix.
It can be done, with some work. DC cars & gas stations have been a part of my game for some time. Sorry, not in a releasable format....it has a custom merged file as a dependency (i.e. Mattel's car collection, one that I made which includes his 'secret site' cars).
The author of CARS! made a modder's pack for those that wished to add new car models. Use that as a base plugin, it works as a DC shell just as well. They also include an area with a gas station preset. Open that area in the GECK, highlight all the parts, copy, paste & position at the DC locale of your choice. (In my rendition, I dotted a good 6 or 7 around the Capital wasteland.)
As for adding cars, you also have to add the references to the add-on registry (Form ID--XRocketCarADDONPreRegister, found in that plugin). If you want the car sold by somebody, make that somebody the car's owner. I think that's about all it took--if I remember more I'll tack it on this thread.
DC is a very fun place to drive. You may need a good muscle car to maneuver some of the spots, but you'll have a blast trying (maybe literally, if a mutie squad gets ahold of you). A drive to Rivet city can be especially entertaining, e.g. (can be done in both directions).
For now, you can use Mattell cars, call function, and disable fuel consumption.
Or don't use the mod, or badger the creator to provide TTW support.
My project Dash is on Kickstarter!
Ermeso is gone so don't try the badger approach ... lol

I've never used XRE cars before. I'd give it a shot if there were some DC stations and cars. You up to making a plugin for it?
I'm willing to give it a shot, if I can ration out the time/motivation. I already 'mod' for a living (at two studios, no less) so I don't mean that as the standard cop-out. I'd want to start with a fresh package (not my doctored-up home-boy version) for any official release. Just an add-on patch, as those are what's allowed in Ermeso's modding rules...
But it could be a fun mod for several--a whole new take on Fast Travel :) I'll see what I can do.
