Improved Signature Armors (Armored 101 and Courier)

Post by Zero Legacy » Mon Mar 23, 2015 7:11 pm

I can't help but notice that the so called signature armors, the Armored Vault 101 Jumpsuit and Courier Dusters, have pretty crappy stats. I wanted to create a simple .esp plugin to give all five armors a boost, but couldn't decide on how much. This isn't EXACTLY a request for a mod to be made, but rather a request for suggestions on what the new Damage Reduction and/or Damage Thresholds should be. (Sorry if this is the wrong thread for such a thing)

I was thinking making them somewhere in between leather and combat, but the end goal of this plugin will be to make those armors viable throughout the entire game. (With Courier being stronger due to typically being gotten much later (provided the player follows the more lore-friendly story progression))

You could look to the stats

You could look to the stats of the Reinforced Leather Armor.  I always find that armor useful even towards late game.

If you want to stay immersive

If you want to stay immersive, how instead of boosting DT/DR increase the other bonuses or give them new ones that make sense.

Maybe wearing them should add a perk.

Signature Armor:

You are so used to the Vault Armor / Duster that its like a second skin and your lucky charm.

+ Movement Speed

+ Charisma

+ Luck

+ sneak speed

 +10 Carry Weight bonus

(or something similar)

That would keep it useful for a light armor character ;)

Edit: If possible it would be awesome if that perk only activates if you wear them long enough.

You could additionally make

You could additionally make the armor gain extra stats if worn during quests or other key events. Pass 25 Speech checks with it on? Gain a small speech bonus. Survive multiple limb cripplings, maybe it gets a bonus to keep limbs from being crippled as easily. It doesn't really make sense, but this is Fallout, where radiation turns people into ghouls and makes glowing mushrooms.

On a side note, there's a mod on FNV Nexus called Signature Armors that lets you do some of this already, just with any armor. It's designed more to let low level armors last longer than to overpower power armor, so it would be very similar to what you want already.

Brief overview of the effects listed in the description:

  • Active: +20%, +50%, +100% Action Point Regen

  • Durable: -25%, -50% condition damage, level 3 jurry rigging for that armor

  • Fortification: -25% enemy crit chance -10% limb damage, -50% enemy crit chance -25% limb damage, -100% enemy crit chance -50% limb damage

  • Hardened: (light armor only) +3DT, +7DT, +12DT

  • Healthy: Slowly heal up to 25%, 50%, 75% of max HP

  • Power Assist: (heavy armor only) +30, +60, +100 carry weight

  • Radical: +15%, +30%, +50% radiation resistance

  • Speedy: +10%, +20%, +30% run speed

  • Stealthy: (medium or light only) +10 sneak skill, +20% sneak speed, stealth field when sneaking (effects cumulative)

  • Tough: +5%, +15%, +25% DR

Hmm Signature Armors does

Post by Zero Legacy » Tue Mar 24, 2015 3:58 pm

Hmm Signature Armors does seem to match up with what I wanted. I'm going to try it, but still keep working on modifying the actual armors. The ideas of getting used to them and wearing them during important quests to improve them seems like a good idea, but a lot of work so it'll take time to even get a working version of it out probably. Thanks for the input.
