energy weapon power

Post by gecko99 » Sun Aug 03, 2014 7:24 am

So i just got this beautiful mod and im a energy weapon fanatic and fallout 3 had a limited selection of energy weapons that were rare and overall kinda of underwelming so my question is: does this mod in any way alter spawns of energy weapons in dc so they have comodity of fnv and if they dont would it be in any way possible to make this mod work "EWE-energy weapons enhanced" its overhauls all the energy weapons and makes them useful and a little more common thank you to anyone who responds

In TTW all weapons that exist

Post by Risewild » Sun Aug 03, 2014 9:34 am

In TTW all weapons that exist in both games (Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas) are the ones from Fallout New Vegas, so that includes energy weapons too.

I don't know if they are rare in Fallout 3 or not, I mean I remember finding a couple laser pistols right after getting out of Vault 101 in the Superduper Mart (not very good condition IIRC), then there is the Enclave later in the game and they use a lot of energy weapons, Mothership Zeta also has many energy weapons although they don't have iron sights yet (we are working on it), so a bit later in the Fallout 3 part of the game you will be swimming in energy weapons and if you are lucky you can find the Firelance quite early (but it has limited ammo and you need to be lucky to get the special encounter), it might be possible to buy some energy weapons early from weapon merchants but usually laser pistols and weak weapons like that but I can't remember very well (the last times I have been testing TTW I only used unarmed and melee weapons so I can't remember about energy weapons). Also some higher level Super Mutants (overlords for example) usually carry strong energy weapons but again that is later in game.

In Fallout New Vegas energy weapons have a target DT reduction with each shot (-5 DT IIRC) and that is the same in TTW even with energy weapons from Fallout 3.

Hope this helps with your question.

In all my playthroughs the safe in Springvale will have a weapon based on your tag skill. So if it's small guns will either be a Chinese pistol or 10 mm, unarmed is brass knuckles, and energy is a laser pistol. Also there are a couple in Super duper mart too.

I think his issue is that laser pistols are shit almost from the start. And honestly, other than attacking Enclave or MAYBE BoS, you never really get access to better Energy Weapons.

I do, however, strongly suggest that you do Zeta ASAP if you are doing an energy build (and don't want to start the mainquest right away). If doing Zeta early, make sure you have a good unarmed skill.

And Grenades.

Yep Jax I must have misread the initial post. Zeta would be a good one or The Pitt and get the Metal Blaster (but i'm bias as that's my favorite energy weapon along with the Guass from OA)
