Fallout 3 DLC creatures in the Mojave

Post by ThatsSo » Sat Mar 15, 2014 3:21 pm

I think it'd be neat if someone added some things from the FO3 DLC into the Mojave.

For example, some trogs around an irradiated area, or maybe even a Chimera owned by the NCR (Perhaps with a recolored texture).

Other possibilities are:

Albino Radscorpions

The Drones from Zeta

The abominations from Zeta

And all the weird swamp people from Point Lookout

Except for the radscorpions,

Except for the radscorpions, the rest are just too much lore-breaking.

No one on the Zeta would have dropped abominations (or drones, as far as i'm concerned) on the world on purpose, the swamp people would have died in the mojave, as they have no survivability there, they come from swamps, it's really different .. ANd there is no way they could have reached the mojave in the first place..

Trogs, their strength comes from the Corners, a lot of walls and shadows, they are "Ambushers", and in the mojave there is really no way for them to hide, except maybe a few rocks here and there...

And the chimera, well... You have to explain how the NCR managed to get a chinese tank from china or from alaska in the first place..

Even though the mod can be done easily, here in TTW a lot of people likes immersion and lore-friendly additions, than just non-sense-lorebreaking addons..

They'd be a stretch, I

They'd be a stretch, I realize, but I wouldn't say lore breaking.

The Zeta drones could be with the aliens in the Wild Wasteland encounter, that'd make perfect sense. Or maybe even in another area where they landed.

I'm sure there's somewhere trogs could survive in the Mojave, like the mountainous western side of the map. There's a lot of twists and turns there. It is awfully linear though. Also, trogs were supposed to be at Hoover Dam in Van Buren, so I wouldn't say it's really "Lore breaking"

The chimera is probably one of the bigger stretches, but the idea of America somehow copying the Chinese tanks doesn't seem too crazy. I mean, in real life, when one country invented the tank, all the other ones didn't go "Well, I guess we aren't going to do that, they did it first." The idea behind it could be American built chimera, not one taken from the Chinese. I would suggest the brotherhood own it, but since they live underground it wouldn't really be possible for them to conceal a tank.

I honestly never did play Point Lookout, so I can't really speak there.

On that point, with the WW

On that point, with the WW perk, the drones could be spawned in some funny locations, aswell as the alien camp, didn't think of that. Same for the abominations, even though  they could be "alien pets" just for fun, it's the wild wasterland perk content we're talking about.

Trogs concept changed during games though, the van buren ones are different than the ones from the pitt.

Would make sense a quest to find the chimera blueprints in anchorage, where the player might "learn" automatically the schematics after reading/seeing them, then when this stage is completed, a new quest on the MJ BoS ( or also NCR) startts, where they are trying to re-construct a prototype tank with ideas from both the chimera, and the US tank of that age but are missing core components and knowledge.

The trogs of Hoover Dam were just mutant people, not mindless monsters. Plus Pitt trogs can only be made in the Pitt.

The US abandoned resourece-heavy things like tanks in favor of power armor.

They're redneck hillbillies. Totally out of place in the Mojave.

There is a FO3 mod that adds some DLC critters to DC Wasteland.

You just need to convert it.

Also the chimera tanks were digging mining machines made to suit the Alaskan tundra and snow which the chinese added a laser cannon to make it into a tank. Also there are unused game files for voice clips that suggest that the chimera tanks were not real and just made up by General Chase to be included in the simulation.

The simulation is really

Post by retlaw83 » Sun Mar 16, 2014 2:06 am

The simulation is really shitty as a training tool, if you think about it. Completely unrealistic way of getting supplies, it only trains people for the role of squad leader, vertibirds and chimera tanks are things that probably would not be encountered by a soldier actually headed to Alaska, and the simulation can only train one soldier at a time when you would need to be training hundreds or thousands. And if this is a simulator preparing people for Anchorage, why would finishing it trigger the lock on a loot room full of things that are obvious trophies brought back from Anchorage, like the Chinese general's shock sword?

According to the terminal

Post by The Unspeakable Horror » Sun Mar 16, 2014 11:53 am

According to the terminal entries in the Outcast Outpost, General Chase was constantly micromanaging the dev team, demanding changes to the point where "the sim is, without any shadow of a doubt, divorced from reality". There's also some cut audio logs giving a bit more detail. The mention of classified files and such gave me the impression it was developed post-Anchorage, and was supposed to send trainees through a reenactment of the battle. Still doesn't really explain the treasure room, though, unless that was Chase's personal stash. But having to run through the entire sim just to unlock it really doesn't make sense either.

On topic- Albino radscorpions could work, but nothing else really seems to fit, IMO. A settlement founded by Chinese Army ghouls, maybe? (never really made sense to me that the ones in DC still hadn't figured out the war over two centuries later.)

You know if it had been Obsidian doing Chinese remnant ghouls, they would be part of a productive settlement instead of mindlessly out to kill you.
