Rarer T-51b in Mojave

Post by EnderDragonFire » Sun Apr 06, 2014 3:49 am

There are a lot of inconsistencies between Fo3 and FNV, but the one that i find most jarring is the fact that while there are only 2 sets of T-51b in the ENTIRE capital wasteland(and one is weaker), in the Mojave it is everywhere. I would really appreciate it if someone would make a small most that removes all of the Mojave T-51b armor except the ones in the safehouse and at the deathclaw promontory.

EDIT: Also, make the set in the safehouse the BoS version, it is only logical.

The team discussed this a while back and we never came to a consensus, but an idea the majority was fond of to eliminate this discrepancy was thus:

Allow the BoS in DC to, on occasion, have T-51 instead of T-45. Make the Fort Constantine power armor a unique in some manner (Prototype T-53a, or T-51d, or something like that). The T-51 found in Operation Anchorage is already somewhat unique because it is winterized.

There were some problems with this (which I only remember vaguely, so bear with me), namely, there is lore documentation stating that the DC BoS found large amounts of T-45 under the pentagon and for some reason ran out of T-51 (again, going off memory, which is fuzzy in this regard).

A possible solution to that would be to, rather than giving the BoS T-51, instead allow low-level Enclave to spawn with it.

A mod to remove T-51 from NV wouldn't be especially hard, but TTW will never make that change because we have vowed to make as few changes as possible to the NV side of things.

The BoS in NV was actually a bug.  "Almost no members of the Brotherhood of Steel wear Brotherhood T-45d power armor, although they may be seen wearing the corresponding helmet with Brotherhood T-51b power armor. This is due to a leveled list which is meant to contain Brotherhood T-45d armor, but contains the T-51b variant instead." straight off the wiki (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Brotherhood_of_Steel_(Mojave_chapter)). There is a mod on the nexus to fix this (http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/40798/?) or use YUP, which I believe has a TTW patch somewhere on this site.

True, but if you look at the lists in NV, the BoS CAN spawn with T-51, just not as often as T-45. In DC there is NO chance of finding T-51 ANYWHERE, except for the two hand placed locations.

fixed mine putting only those on the citadel and some members of the Pride with the BoS T-51b

while Those in patrol are wearing T-45d, in higher levels there will be 1 or 2 wearing a T-51b with a Heavy Weapon like Plasma Casters, Gatling Lasers or Missile Launchers

T-51b on the Brotherhood is canon from Fallout 1 and 2 and continued in New Vegas. Fallout 3 is the game that broke canon and NV doesn't need broken to suit it.

Additionally, the idea of Enclave T-51b is plausible if they fall on hard times - Advanced Power Armor featured in Fallout 2 and NV was made to replace to replace it.

@JaxFireheart - I understand why TTW will never be able to include this feature, hence my requesting it as a separate mod. Would make it my self, but it is beyond my skill.

@Reapman & Retlaw - Well, canonically speaking, the CW brotherhood shouldn't have any t-51b, and while TTW doesn't fully respect the cannon (9 years later, .22 revolver, ect.) it think that adding it to them would be a bad move.

P.S. @Retlaw I wouldn't go as far to say the Fo3 broke the cannon, just that Betheseda has a different vision for the series that Interplay did. I understand that many people prefer the classic games, not trying to bash them or anything, just my opinion :P

I think I may have the solution to this problem. Instead of making it into some type of never-before-seen power armor, why not make it hardened T-51b?

My Reasoning:

1)In Fo3 T-51b was a unique top tier armor, in NV, it is a common mid tier armor. To avoid unbalancing either game, it only makes since that they be different armors, with the Fo3 armor being just below Hellfire, with the NV armor remaining between T-45d and Remnants. Hardened armor would be a lore-friendly way to achieve this. It would be a good way to make two games mesh more seamlessly.

yeah but the enclave APA is the most resistant armor ingame

but obsidian scrapped it for some reason

T-51b = 28DT

Enclave Remnants APA = 32DT

Eastern Enclave APA = 35DT

Hellfire(my private mod) = 40DT

for hardened T51b, 32dt is enough
