Hacking Anchorage

Post by Piers Arkan » Thu Jan 09, 2014 11:14 pm

So Operation Anchorage is a highly realistic* military simulation to train military troopers of the USA by reliving the fight of Anchorage. It's linear. It's combat oriented. It's kinda boring. It gives you a little tiny bit of leeway on how to do things in the game.

But here's my Sciencey tell-others-to-kill-for-you guy. Great...

What I propose is that instead of having the square block hammered into the triangle space, we make a mod that adds a set of terminals for the Anchorage simulation. These include Emails regarding the questionable sanity of General Chase, the ability to splice old version of the sim back in, which reduces difficulty, or to gain access to debugging commands which makes guns god powerful, the character invincible, or set flags for a current version of the simulation like yours. Pissed about those suitcases? Don't worry, the sim flags that you found them all upon activation, and once you set up in the pod, you get the perk.

And maybe, if you are a good enough hacker, you can mine other bits of information out of it, including skipping the entire DLC proper. I think it could be something to explore, something to basically give more options.

But is Skipping the whole DLC cheating, and do you get the XP? If you are able to accomplish the work I think you'd have to to basically cheat your way through the DLC in a sort of Meta way, then is it? What if you have to go to some of these coder's homes to find the damn Data, passwords, spliced hybrids of the simulation in order to get what you want?

I think it could work. What say ye?

Not the same, but I just made this and it does achieve the basic aim.
