a follower AI mod idea

When I am having more than 5 or 6 followers, the "formation" is so long that make me wonder: Is there any way to change the follower following you in a formation, just like that caravan convoy in near 188 trading post does (the body guards are moving in a V formation).


I know that one is scripted, but if we make the follower following a "reference point" (let say, 6 ft on my left) rather than just following my butt, then it is an echelon formation.....


 


To get even more "realistic", we should have packed brahmins with auto sorter to act as the pack mule (like that Beastly  the brahmin in new vegas uncut or the brahmin that in Real time settler mod). Of coz those brahmin wil be in true passive mod and won't fight and they will not enter buildings. But we can assign companions as guards for the brahmins (the brahmins follow you, your companions follows the brahmins).


I am sure that is possible or otherwise how can Willow or Sunny smiles have their dog followers. And to be honest, for a "trade orientated" mod like Amy Wong, she should have a packed brahmin with her.......


Ideally, that can be managed by MCM (for formations, spread and team AI), but I am a newbie to GEEK, so just want to know if there is anyone interested to takeover this idea to become a reality.

Companions just use a follow

Companions just use a follow package, and there's only one parameter - distance. By default it's 300. There's no way to offset it as far as I know.


Traveling merchants don't use follow package because when one dies, the rest carry on. I'm not sure how they manage to walk in formation though, might be worth looking into.

What I am thinking is that, just like Jil's CC&C or many other mods, we can command the companion to go to that point, what we may do is that, keep moving that point to an offset point from the player......


That should work, but I worry that it will slow down the system even more (especially if you have lots of companions), so some better system is needed.


The Brahmin &guards mod should be easier as there are already some good pack brahmin mod, what we need to do is to add the scrip to assign companions to guard the brahmins just like the dog in willow mod.
