[Request] BoS DC Ruins Patrols w/ MCM

Post by genius384 » Fri Feb 27, 2015 4:27 pm

Hi all,

First off, just wanted to say thanks to all the devs of TTW.  Really fantastic stuff.

I installed the BOS Ruins Patrols mod conversion https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/bos-dc-ruins-patrols which works great, but all the configuration is done via inventory item, which is kind of annoying (since I hate opening my Pip Boy and seeing items that aren't quest or weapons, etc.)

Would anyone be willing to try to convert to a MCM instead?  Is there a tutorial for doing such a thing?  I know my way around the Creation Kit and FNVEdit, so I'd be willing to give it a stab myself.

MCM on nexus actually has a guide to making MCMs in the files section, which is where most of us start.  if you have questions, feel free to ask here

perms:  either a full fireworks display spelling out "Puppettron Made This" anytime a user accesses my content in-game, or just give me credit somewhere.

And a tiny bit of self promotion in this theme. Check out this post that some dumb guy named deadboy made about his struggle that went on WAY too long relating to MCM, https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/mcm-creation-tip-learned-hard-personal-experience

But seriously, MCM is really not that hard to generally implement. Most mods that don't have it, in MY experience, is not because of how hard it is to do. Rather one of two things:

  1. The mod was made before MCM was as easy as it is now and the author is no longer in the mood to go back and make it work in a more user friendly manner (especially after how hard they worked on the item based thing which is WAY harder)

  2. The mod was made before MCM was as easy as it is now and is no longer doing mods.

Seriously. Once you have a basic understanding of the GECK and some scripting, which sounds WAY more intimidating that it really is, MCM interface is super easy to create.
