I've never made a mod in my life. That's the obvious reason why I'm here. The idea is that you just take the model of the point lookout boat and place it halfway sunken in the river near the shore somewhere in the capitol wasteland. After you've found it a quest line starts to get it up and running again. You can interact with the guy from the point lookout boat to help revive(get it unsunken), renovate(make repairs and the whatnots), add new things(work bench, etc.), and basically turn it into a player home(duh). After you've traveled to New Vegas and traveled back to the Capitol Wasteland, you have the option to move between the two. The point is a unique, lore friendly player home that can be easily accessed from either wasteland.

I do think this would be a good idea, and I could see it in Lake Mead.

I don't know about lore, but
I don't know about lore, but not logically friendly to riverboat from DC to California :-P. I think this is a great idea though, I love creative housing mods. This is a very script-heavy and quest-maky thing you're talking here, 2 things that aren't easy to do. I would recommend asking some of the veteran modders around here for help if you get stuck.

Yeah, I can understand how it
Yeah, I can understand how it wouldn't make sense taking a riverboat from DC to Vegas, but it would be possible..maybe you have to travel to vegas by train to get a sufficient amount of metal to act as armor for your boat. That would kill two birds with one stone, reason to take the train first and how you'd survive the long trek. The first stage of the mod could at least be placing the fully decked out boat in the river. Then slowly update it with quests, etc.

No, it's very possible...
No, it's very possible... just time consuming, and dangerous. Ergo why you suggested armor :-P.
