Alternate fast travel option

Post by SeperateAvatar » Sat May 25, 2013 12:53 am

Being that this is my first post, i would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work and effort. I really think that this whole thing (from concept to implementation) is brillent.

So, that being said...

Im one of those strange people whom dosnt like to fast travel. I find it emersion breaking, and a hinderence to my role playing. However, walking across the intire waste for a single pickup and then back is time consumeing, and lets face it, kind of a pain in the ass. To get around this ive always used some kind of mod. In my more recent play throughs, I use a vertibird to get around new vegas, and it works great. However, to use it curently, i would have to travel to new vegas and "find it" before its of any use, being that we start in dc. This really isnt too much of a problem, but it kinda messes with my role playing, and i would be suprised (illbeit pleasently) if its functionality will extend to dc. (I have yet to get to the mojavi in my curent play through, so really dont have any idea)

What i really want is the motorcycle from Fallout Wanderers Edition. All of it. From wandering around looking for the nessesary parts for repair, to crafting the fuel for it. I found it to be truly a delight, and my favoret feature from that mod. (the rest of the mod was pretty badass aswell, but over all i prefure project nevada). Maybe someone much more tallented then me could figure out how to make that happen? I also would seggest being able to bring it with us to the mojave somehow.

thank you for takeing the time to read my broken and incoheret seggestion. And please excuess my poor spelling.

The Mojave has a couple of fast travel alternatives (I use Speed-E Wheels http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/46226/?). What I would like is Arthmoors caravans from FO3, but unfortunately it requires FOSE. http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/7701/?

I think there is a non-FOSE mod in the same vein, but I can't remember what it is called. I'll search for a bit, and if I find it I'll post a link.

I think everything in FOSE is also in NVSE. Should be able to port it.

I don't think this is the case. You may be able to do the same things, but not in the same way (as I understand from my rudimentary understanding of their code)

I'm going to generalize.

Post by JaxFirehart » Sat May 25, 2013 2:45 pm

I'm going to generalize. Anything that is made using FOSE can be made using NVSE and could be converted to TTW by running the conversion script. After the conversion script, though, you need to go through and re-compile all of the scripts. A few functions changed and may need to be updated, but generally FOSE mods can be ported by someone who can script.

The author of the caravan mod

The author of the caravan mod explicitly said he doesn't want it converted. At least when I asked him. I use speed e wheels too, it's the best. I have permission from puce to add speed e stops the the CW if anyone wants to give it a go.

Ah, I might brush up on my scripting and do it myself then.

Mind you, cross wasteland speed e stations would be amazing. I think there is a problem with adding more stations, might've been something to do with adding extra pages of destinations to the terminals. I don't really remember. I would definitely use it though.

Ya that's what the issue is.

Ya that's what the issue is. However I wouldn't have it take you to the alternate wastelands, it'd be a lot simpler to just add speed e stops across the CW, and only allow travel to other stops in the same wasteland.

I would love to see more

I would love to see more normal Travel options around.

Speed-E Wheels is nice but I must say the Motorbike was awesome.

I like things you need to repair and stuff. It really adds to the scavenge & survival feel.

To bad my skills are not enough right now, but maybe this will change in time...

All takes practice. Just a few short years ago I didn't know any of this.

My project Dash is on Kickstarter!
