Random encounter resets

Post by Blazefan » Wed May 08, 2013 10:32 pm

Had an idea for a mod that I think would be kind of cool, and have not found anything that does it.

Basically, in the CW random encounters happen in cells based off a possible list and once an event happens in a cell, that cell never gets another encounter. Would it be possible for a mod to allow a cell to reset itself for multiple random encounters over time? The encounters are one of the really neat minor details in the CW, and It'd be cool if they were able to happen more often.

I'm not sure this is the case

I'm not sure this is the case. Encounters happen in the same areas time and time again.

There are two types of random

There are two types of random encounter. Repeatable and unique ones.  The repeatable's come again (but on another location) but keep the location free for another encounter. When a unique one happend the location is fixed with this one.  There is a good reason why the system works how it does. So a mod to repeat the unique ones isn't a good idea.

I think Blazefan doesn't want

I think Blazefan doesn't want to repeat the unique encounters, I think he wants the cells where an encounter happened to still spawn other encounters later and not prevent any from happening in that cell again. laugh

At least that is the idea I got from reading the first post angel.

You'd be correct. Essentially I'm talking a mod that would let different repeatable encounters happen in the same cell over time. In the vanilla game once a cell activates an encounter, repeatable or unique, that cell will never have another encounter. Allowing cells to have encounters over and over again would still only having unique encounters happen once would really add to the longevity of a playthrough, imo.
