Creature Faction, War of The Food Chain

Post by Computerrock1 » Sat Apr 27, 2013 2:31 pm

This a public service announcement, don't feed Yao Gui, that is all...

Something I've never really thought was balanced in any of the fallout games was that the creatures of fallout didn't hate each other. Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't a gecko and a radroach be eternal enemies? I mean there ancestors used roaches as a huge part of their diet. Also, radscorpion wouldn't co-habitate with a radroach or gecko, technically the radroach would be highest on the foodchain (deathclaw being the true highest) would go after said creatures, I mean they have to eat, right, RIGHT???

I was wondering if we could make a mod that created a seperate faction for all the creatures of fallout and watch it unfold as you watch creatures that were in the same load space attack each other, the winner then comes after you! For example a radscorpion comes into to a gecko's territory, if it were one gecko, the gecko would loose, but the gecko tends to hunt in groups. So its a matter of whether the radscorion could hit poison them all and sting them to death or would it be overrun by a gecko "herd"? Same goes with molerats, dogs, deathclaws, ants and bloatflies (any other creature I may have forgotten. They all are on a heirarchy of the foodchain and surely the player character isn't the only food that these guys would want. No one here would say they wouldn't like to watch a pack of yao gui go up against a deathclaw, that would be a battle of epic proportions...

Anyways, I don't have the skill with the GECK to pull this off but it would be an amazing realism mod that would add depth to the world, no longer is just people at war with people and the wasteland itself, but the wasteland is at war with itself!

Thanks For Listening Children

I'm pretty sure most

I'm pretty sure most creatures do hate each other already. I have geckos that fight the radroaches and bloatflys on the other side of the highway. I've seen deathclaws fighting radscorpions. Hostile robots fight any other enemy. Bighorners fight scorpions and mantis. You get the point...

most creatures already fight each other, you just don't see it happen. And most creatures have their own territory and don't ever wander too far from it.

I'm not alright, I'm an equal amount of left.

That's espescially true for NV which has reserved zones for creatures which doesn't overlap much. In FO3 it's better and with MMM this effect can be seen more prominently.

*facepalm* I just figured

*facepalm* I just figured those were scripted "random encounters", didn't think tha it just happened because two creature's zones intersected and you are right it happens a lot more in FO3 than in FNV.

The reason I thought otherwise because I was in in the grayditch pump area and both the radroaches and the radscorpion were harmoniously co-habitating the same space and both were trying to kill me instead of killing each other. Which is where I got the idea for this mod :D...

Oh well

FO3's creatures were almost

FO3's creatures were almost all in creaturefeaction and would happily ignore each other and chow down on you/npcs together. MMM had a module that fixed this, and New Vegas seems not to suffer from the problem nearly as much, though there is less creature intermingling.
