Cheap weapons and armor

Post by Krowges » Sat Nov 23, 2013 6:05 pm

Well I want to role play a mercenary, meaning I don't prospect or scavenge.

So I don't sell stuff to stores, I just get by on what I get from quests, unfortunately buying GNR equipment and some other stuff.

I know it's possible to simply change the value in the geck, in witch case I can just do it myself.

But I was wondering if it's possible to use a script or something that will make weapons and armors cheaper.

P.S My computer was destroyed, so when I buy a new computer I will reinstall TTW.

Technicallyy yes, it would be possible to do that. If you were roleplaying as a mercenary though, I feel you'd be better off making another store that potentially sold all the weapons Gun Runners sold, but gave you a major discount (85% sounds good). Would be relatively simple to make to. I don't speak from experience, but I don't think mercenaries buy their weapons from the local sporting goods store. :D

Now a days mercenaries and

Now a days mercenaries and assassins don't buy registered guns because of the police I suppose,(I don't speak from experience either wink wink) so in the world of fallout I don't see this as big a problem.

Anyway, if it's possible then I agree 85% does sound good, but I'd like it to effect all weapons and armor in the game if possible(in all shops).

By the way last time I played I made a simple mod with a recipe to convert 10 cap for 90 caps that was a quick fix, so if this mod is to hard to make I could simply remake that mod.(then any time I completed a quest or mission I just multiplied that amount of caps at the near workbench).

of course since I like to role play I also add a bit of weight to caps 0.01 and I use PN to lower my carry weight to a reasonable sum. So it would be nice to carry less weight to go to the stores.

anyhow I really enjoy playing this style it's a lot faster then to check every corpse or an entire building for all the things with a high value/weight ratio, so I recommend this for other people who want to play TTW in a different manner then what they used to.

Thank you for the very quick response Thatchor.

There is an entry point on

There is an entry point on perks that gives shop discount. It covers all items though, but you can set it to any value as a percentage. So you could give yourself a single perk and be done with it with no other edits. Keeping in mind that this will make things like ammo and food cheaper as well, but as they're already relatively cheap compared to armor and weapons that's not going to be noticed quite as much.

I tried a perk or resetting

Post by Krowges » Sun Nov 24, 2013 7:56 am

I tried a perk or resetting the barter values so that you could buy things for less unfortunately the game min buy value is the item base value(also the game max sell value is also the base value), so all those perks do is make the barter skill irrelevant.

as far as I can tell the only way is to set the prices of the items in the geck to be cheaper, but if anyone has a better idea I'm all ears.

Also the idea I'm proposing will prevent mods from effecting those weapons and armors, and any mods that add weapons and armor will also need to be edited. So my idea is a pretty bad one.

Any way I plan to reinstall TTW tomorrow.
