I always thought of the alien crystals (small and large) as alien money, so why not implement an alien "vending machine" on the Mothership Zeta where the player could change some crystals for alien stuff (alien food, epoxys, biogel and both types of alien ammo), the idea came from the Star Trek "Replicator" and the Sierra Madre "vending machine" we could use the crystals as currency and other alien items to trade for crystals (just like the sierra madre chips) that would be a good use to recycle all those alien weapons available all over the ship into alien food, medicine and ammo.


I think that since the Sierra Madre has the vending machines the MZ having it's alien replicators would seem quite interesting and FNV like and would answer a question I have for a long time, if the aliens are orbiting earth for centuries where do they get their alien food from? frown.

Well the ship is much larger on the outside than is accessible from the inside. Theres probably a hydroponics/farm level somewhere in there for food production. After all, they have a weapons level and a robot factory level.


 


That being said, I like the idea of replicators. Big MT had so many demolished buildings, it stands to reason with all the other cracked out stuff they had there was a department for reverse-engineering alien tech. And that could be where the Sierra Madre vending machines came from.

it shouldn't be too hard to make some create/breakdown recipes for the alien workbenches.


maybe add some harvestable alien body parts, quantity and type depending on survival skills.


like you can harvest brains in RobCo Certified

robco cert uses a special bonesaw for harvesting brains. maybe similar "Alien Bonesaw" you could pick up along the way.


not sure what you mean by "static for the machine", unless you're talking about a whole new device like the sierra madre vending machines?


i would just make recipes for workbenches or maybe chem sets, with a sub category of alien

I am talking about a new device. I don't want to add them to workbenches or anything, because you should only be able to spend the crystals in the Ship. There's no where else to get alien crystals, so I see little point in adding more clutter to the workbench when I could just make a vending machine like those in lonesome road. I was actually responding to the OP, sorry but I see little point in harvesting body parts from aliens. You kind of went off in a different direction with your post.

Well a good static (without having to make one from scratch) would be any of the DLC05 console ones with maybe an alien button attached to it (like a workbench one, or a door one, etc) I guess cheeky to be honest I don't care how it looks in the beginning it's just that I always wanted t obe able to get more alien food and stuffs and use the crystals for something more than just decoration or selling for caps, people with the know-how and skills could make a model for it later if they wanted or something xD.

I included the Drone control device because if the alien carrying it is disintegrated, the device may disappear.

I included the Cryo explosives so that you don't have to wait for 3 hours to get some more.
