I am talking about a new device. I don't want to add them to workbenches or anything, because you should only be able to spend the crystals in the Ship. There's no where else to get alien crystals, so I see little point in adding more clutter to the workbench when I could just make a vending machine like those in lonesome road. I was actually responding to the OP, sorry but I see little point in harvesting body parts from aliens. You kind of went off in a different direction with your post.

ok, i understand now. and your logic about cluttering workbenches makes total sense. like risewild said, there are plenty of interesting console statics in Zeta, just pick one and have at it :) maybe pick one that is used a lot already and turn it from a static into an activator?
the only reason i brought up the harvestable body parts is because i didn't remember there being a whole lot of crystals. i could be wrong, been a while since i played Zeta. :) alien body parts could be another source of material for conversion to biological based items like BioGel. i guess an easier thing to do would be increase the chance to drop and/or quantity of crystals on dead alien loot leveled lists.
another option would be to make some of the moveable static clutter, like all the alien cube/boxes, into an actual item that could be picked up, and then converted to crystals. that would give another source of materials and get rid of a lot of useless/annoying clutter. i can't be the only person who spent time throwing junk down into the core because i was tired of kicking it around, can i?
