Possible karma bug?

Post by arotau » Sun Aug 12, 2018 3:33 am

I'm playing an "evil" playthrough. I'm in DC now. I somehow have "Very Good" karma even though I cannibalize constantly and am generally mean to everybody, and constantly steal. I threatened Winthrop at Underworld for his stimpacks, he told me to get the f* out but then he still talks friendly to me. I killed the guy asking for water in front of Megaton. I didn't destroy Megaton however. Is this a bug or do killing raiders and feral ghouls give you that much good karma? I'm not too bothered by it but it seems strange to me. Also that Railroad lady at Megaton who tells you to stop looking for the android keeps giving me stuff and thanking me for all I've done, and I've never even been to Rivet City yet.

Maybe my karma got so low that it went to "Very Good" after hitting the minimum? I'm slightly knowledgeable about modding, but I'm pretty sure I don't have any mods that change karma, besides the "NoKarmaDCFollowers".

I'm using TTWfixes, but I've read that it causes a lot of problems.

I've personally used (And will always use, until 3.0 is out) TTWFixes. I have never had any issues at all with my game, and it's just fine. I will need some more info to help you like:

Load order?

TTW version?

OS version?

Specs?

It's no bug. Fallout 3 was stupidly made in terms of karma and is always pushing good karma for the player when killing feral ghouls and stuff like that. If you want to get bad karma you have to go around and steal all the owned junk you can find and kill "good" NPCs.

Basically, in Fallout 3, if you want to play an "evil" character with evil karma, you have to do all the obvious "evil" quest solutions and pick all the "evil" dialogue options. And don't give water to the water beggars or donate to churchs either.

The Contract Killer perk might help, since you get 10 negative karma and some caps for each ear you turn in, in addition to the bad karma you got from killing the NPC. Enslaving people will also help (so it helps becoming a slaver). Once you're a slaver there will be parties of anti-slavery people that will appear to attack you, killing them will give you negative karma and with the contract killer perk you will get even more negative karma, once you become evil karma, you will also be attacked by regulators which also give negative karma for killing them.

Cannibal also only gives -1 karma, so you have to eat 5 people for every 1 can of beans you steal.
I'm just the guy who shitposts and helps Roy not overcomplicate stuff.

Fallout 3 doesn't reward good karma for killing ghouls and raiders that's new vegas. If you play regular Fallout 3 you don't get good karma for killing ghouls that stupidity was done by the creators of New Vegas for whatever reason. It's very easy to be "evil" in Fallout 3 however in New Vegas without mods it's actually not possible due to the way good karma is rewarded.

OP their are few karma fix mods on the nexus for New Vegas that you can use that fix this problem with the way New Vegas rewards good karma.
