[Solved] Game Freeze at Obsidian logo

Post by JigoralPsi » Thu Sep 21, 2017 11:25 pm

I havent played TTW in a while, at least a year. I had played it just fine before, and have done no changes to the game files as far as I know. I attempted to load the game up, and after opening the game, it loads the copyright splash, then transitions to the Obsidian logo and freezes. The music continues to play, but no cursor, no keyboard control, etc. I can alt-tab out, and using my second monitor (since the game prevents anything from loading on top of it), end-task the exe to exit the frozen program.

Thinking that perhaps something updated or whatever, I deactivated all mods other than TTW, and tried again. Same result.

Further going down the rabbit hole of debugging, I tried deactivating everything except base NV. Works fine to the main menu, but my save was a TTW save, so cant load the save.

Thinking that maybe something happened to the TTW files, I used the pre-built version I had in backup, copied over the old versions, and tried again (after confirming the load order was right.) No dice. Freeze at Obsidian.

So, thinking that maybe something was seriously wrong, I deleted everything under the Data folder (in case it was a bad ESM or Texture/Model/Script), verified Steam files, and rebuilt the TTW FOMOD using the TTW installer in my backup folder. At this point, the only things being used is a verified NV, new TTW FOMOD, new downloaded NVSE, the RoyBatterian 4GB NV exe patcher, JIP LN NVSE plugin (The updated Lutana plugin), and CASM + MCM 1.54. Should be exactly the bare minimums for TTW to function. And I get the same freeze.

Following the FAQ for No Menu troubleshooting, I went through each of the ESMs for TTW one by one, but it always freezes if any of the Fallout 3 ESMs are activated. Im kinda runnin out of ideas to test now to get it operational.

We spoke in Discord about it, but for the records for later peeps, Win 10 Pro Version 10.0.15063 Build 15063.

You also asked for the NVAC log, after asking me to install it, so heres a paste of that too.

Roy got my back via Discord. He guided me through the Performance Guide, and we found that it was Overwolf causing conflict with Fallout NV.

Discounting my installed mods

Post by Trm8r » Fri Sep 22, 2017 3:17 am

Discounting my installed mods your data folder is the same as mine. The only differences I see is I've deleted the *.nam files, I think Roy said to. And I have 2 extra files. Also my CASM doesn't have the 'with MCM"

TaleOfTwoWastelands - PlayerVoice.bsa      728kb

TaleOfTwoWastelands - SFX.bsa     2,907kb

Edit: I think the 2 extra files are from TaleOfTwoWastelands_Options.fomod

Never mind, you already solved it.
