Tale of Two Wastelands - Freeze on startup(Bethesda screen Screen)

Post by Skieppy » Fri Sep 22, 2017 6:39 pm

Hi

I have an odd bug that causes my Tale of Two Wastelands to freeze on start up. This only occurs when the ttw - main files fomod is active.

I have gotten the game to work on 3 occasions. The first time I have modified(Not sure if i have modified all of them) the Fallout_default.ini, FalloutPrefs.ini and Fallout.ini file with the information on the alpha download page. It still froze, I deleted the ini files and did the verify game files via steam. It showed two files were missing and it was re-downloaded. It still froze. at that point i was tired of activating and deactivating to fomod and tried everything. Just as I give up... The Game works... I'm unsure what exactly trigger the game to work.

First time I played the game and modding it restrating the game frequently no problems. The next day after I have booted up my PC it froze again. The process listed above was repeated every time my PC was restarted. Not sure what causes it to fail or work.

Halfway writing this thread my game started working again... Although It does not play the Fallout 3 menu music and show the Fallout 3 main menu as selected in the additionals fomod.

I have tested the fallout 3 world and it works as it should.

I have directly tried to deactivate the fomod and reactivate on start up but It did not fix anything.

My system and other specs:

OS: Windows 10

CPU: Intel Core I7 6700k

Ram: 24GB

GPU: Geforce GTX 960(4GB)

Mod Manager: Fomm(0.14.11.12)

And additional to the mod list nvac, sr New Vegas Stutter Remover and jip(nvse plugins) are active. I have also disabled the cloud sync on steam

What I've ran into with this

Post by paragonskeep » Sat Sep 23, 2017 7:22 am

What I've ran into with this is an incompatible mod to some other or master. Best advice is to start with ONLY TTW and it's optionals. IF that runs fine then add one mod at a time and verify that everything works before adding another mod. My previous build I could run enhanced camera this build (different rig) I can't.

Mileage may vary due to numerous factors. Also make sure to use FNVedit to check for any issues and to make a merged patch.

Hope some of that helps.

If life is but a test, where's the damn answer key?!?!?

Interesting. When I disabled

Interesting. When I disabled overwolf the game worked. Thank you for the advice.

The plugins did not cause the game to crash.

regarding the fook implementation. I Went to the capital wasteland and the game seems to be fine using the fook plugin. the only thing that I can see is not working is the fook weapon distribution for the npc's(I guess the weapon leveled weapon list is different from standard new vegas). So I guess it's safe to say fook works.

Thank you all for your time I appreciate it.

It's not safe to say it works, but if you are fine with the bugs, carry on.
