Auto axe issue

Post by EverChosen208 » Sun Jun 25, 2017 11:41 pm

Having a texture issue with the auto axe. Its strange because on NPC's and when dropped the weapon looks completely fine, but when equipped by me the textures are missing and have that annoying use any available textures from the surroundings look. I certain most of you know what I mean by that but will post a screen if needed. Seemingly no issues or conflicts on NVedit either.

Thank you in advance to anyone who stops to help!

EDIT: Also seems like the autoaxe disappears sometimes in first person when attacking with it

EDIT: after doing some detective work through the data folder there appears to be no weapon textures in the dlcpitt file, but I've seen plenty of infiltrators around with okay textures. where else might they be stored?

Auto Axe disappearing is long known issue in the vanilla game, it's been fixed for 3.0.

No idea about your texture problems.

Sadly I've found no retextures to replace the buggy one either :/

Could the texture simply just be missing? And could i fix it without reinstalling everyhting?

I don't know how to fix it, but the Auto Axe had it's texture in TTW 2.9.4b. I tested it a lot back then (it's one of my favorite weapons).

The textures should be in your: Fallout - Textures.bsa

( Fallout - Textures/textures/dlcpitt/weapons/2handmelee ).

EDIT: I guess you could just extract the textures from your Fallout 3 The Pitt DLC and use them as loose files in your FNV TTW.

There is also a retexture on the Nexus but it makes the Auto Axe red:

I was looking for it in the NV directory but it wasnt in the Dlcpitt folder, will give it another look. And I also tried that retexture but it just changed the messed up yellow blotches on the weapon to red. It apparently only recolors the weapon and doesn't change the textures at all.

EDIT: Turns out Im an idiot and and I missed that you said BSA file. I actually don't know how to access them, I've never had to before

It is a new texture. I downloaded it and opened the texture file to make sure, I also tried it on my game and it did replaced the textures of the old Auto Axe.

If you see the weapon color changing to red when you use the red textures, then the problem is not the textures at all. It seems you might have something weird making the weapons display the textures incorrectly.

I have never encountered or heard of anything like that before so I have no idea what could be causing that.

The mauler being both wielded and dropped. All variants of the auto axe are like that when equipped but when dropped or on NPC's then they look fine like in the second one.

Seems like it only happens

Post by Risewild » Mon Jun 26, 2017 3:39 pm

Seems like it only happens with the first person texture.

Textures is my area, but I really have no idea what might be causing this because the texture files seem to be correct. sad

I wonder if it is a problem with the meshes or something. Meshes are not my area sad.

I would assume that a mod is causing it somehow, but I really don't know most mods (haven't used mods with FNV since almost 6 years ago except for TTW, DarnUI and MCM).

Many weapons have a dedicated 1st person mesh. You should check the weapon in FNVEdit and see if the 1st person model is different, and if so write down the path/name and check the bsa to see if the mesh has the right name/is in the right place.

Something is altering the texture set for the weapon. It could be TTWFixes has a bug with that, could be another mod.
