FPS Degrading over time

Post by Kireishito » Wed Sep 07, 2016 4:18 am

Hello, I created this account just so as I could congratulate the community and the team making this awesome mod and to ask for some help as well.

I expect this topic to be at the right place, sorry in advance if not.

I have a rig made of i5 650 3.2ghz, 12gb of RAM, Windows 7 64 bits.

Using FOMM version 0.14.11.12

Fallout 3 version is Steam downloaded Fallout 3 GOTY

I'm having an issue that I have seen some people complaining about it in 2 topics, but the solutions didn't help me: When I start my session I keep steady 60fps, floating from 60 to 62 (I capped it at 60). But as I keep playing, fps starts degrading and at sceneries where I'd get 60 fps I start getting 54-55 and after some more minutes, 46-50 at the exact same place. This isn't bad at all, but whenever there are lots of NPCs, I still get 57-60fps: a bit less than when there's almost no NPCs, but when I keep playing, it drops to 35-40 fps, what really makes playing difficult. I don't know if it's a coincidence but whenever there's the drop, I feel some kind of quick spike of lag, fps drops briefly to 15 and go back to the new level, always lower than it was before.

I tried almost everything I could read: NVSE + NVAS + FNV4GB updated (obviously), using long load fix, changed libvorbis.dll and libvorbisfile.dll to 1.3.2 (the only ones I could find on the web), used NVconfigurator to turn Bloom and HDR off, no AA, no Anisotropic filtering. put those pre-loading cache, shader 3.0 and everything that would lower stuttering and improving performance, except for textures (which I put lowest once but didn't improved anything at all). I tried to follow the general load order guide the best I could. I don't think it's overheating, because my CPU gets to 65°c maximum GPU 36°c and even after pausing and lowering the temperature, it won't return to base stats until I restart the session (and when I do, I get 60fps again, even at that temperatures).

I dunno if I could explain the problem clearly, but If someone could help me, I'd be thankful!

That's just an issue in

That's just an issue in general, it's nothing to do with TTW I'm afraid. Heavily modded New Vegas does the same thing.

I attribute it to the poor memory manager in the game.

But it won't keep going down

Post by Kireishito » Wed Sep 07, 2016 1:09 pm

But it won't keep going down until crash, right? I guess the only way then, is to disable steam's fps counter and play carefree hehe.

Thanks for the quick reply man! Your video tutorials are very nice!

Yeah, that's a memory leak alright.

Can happen after 15 minutes or hour of playtime, depending on your machine and mod arsenal.

Have a look at the linked post and at the plugin which is on the same page in the OP:

It helped me to completely get rid off the  memory leak.

It causes crashes randomly, Roy? I tried for a short bit and it seems that something has improved. When I try it for a longer time I'll give you all the feedback, maybe someone out there has the same problem.

Soon!

Well, it indeed fixed fps

Post by Kireishito » Thu Sep 08, 2016 2:29 am

Well, it indeed fixed fps drops indoors, and it need much longer time to get significant drops outdoors... Not definitive fix, but it helped! Thx anstand. I hope it won't crash on certain missions or at Mojave Wasteland...
