Can you help me?

Post by Koaleader » Fri Feb 12, 2016 1:59 am

Hey guys. So I just recently downloaded and installed Tale of two wastelands. Now the problem I'm having is this. It all installed correctly and as it should. However, whenever I reboot my computer and then start FNV again (or fallout 3 by itself for that matter) it sloes down to around 1 frame per second. Then after about 5 minutes it will Crash. The first time this happened I reinstalled TTW via the installer which rebuilt the files, then reinstalled in FOMM and it was fine. This latest time however, I can't fix it. I've even tried ubinstallong TTW entirely, AND deactivating all of my mods and trying to run a brand new fame of fallout new Vegas. I have the same issue. So what I'm asking is if you guys happen to have seen an issue like this, and if so, can you guys offer a fix?

My computer specs
Dell studio XPS
I7 8 core 2.67 GHz processor.
8 gigs ram.
Nvidia 680 GTX (I think. Its a 600 2gb series)

I'll get the load order for any mods if you need it, just not next to my comp right this second. Thanks guys I appreciate any help you can offer

This might be a hardware

This might be a hardware problem, with the GPU working fine with 2D desktop and light use, and then failing whenever it is placed under a significant workload like running a 3D intensive game. If you get similar issues with frex GPU benchmarking software as well as other 3D games, it is quite likely that you are having a defective GPU: Maybe the GPU cooling fan is not working like it should (fairly common problem may be an errant wire getting stuck in the GPU cooling fan, preventing it from rotating - This is the easiest to fix, simply bind that wire away from the fan), or perhaps some of the GPU memory or other GPU components or welds/connections are broken.. or maybe the GPU is not getting enough power (make sure that the GPU is installed/seated correctly, with any required GPU power connectors attached properly), also check if your computers power supply can actually provide enough power for your GPU at peak workloads (see if the power supply nominal wattage meets the recommended specs of your GPU).

I have seen a few GPUs die in similar fashions; At first 3D applications keep failing while 2D desktop works fine, and then finally the whole graphics card dies (cant do 2D desktop or even boot up at all) and needs to be replaced.
