UI Issues (And probably other errors)

Post by Gyg4byt3 » Fri Oct 07, 2016 8:21 pm

So after about a day or trying to fix this (this included the time it took to do a complete re-install), I'm still having an issue with my UI. Now It's not the absolute worst thing, but it really is something that I'd like to fix. My problem is that in the Adjustable Hud MCM menu, I can't select anything or move anything. There will be a screenshot included, but I doubt it will be helpful. I'll also be including my load order at the end of this so if there may be any errors there, you may be able to find them. I was hoping to spend my Columbus day vacation from school making my way through the DC Wasteland, but this kinda broke those plans. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated and many thank in advance.

P.S. While I'm somewhat tech savvy, I don't have much modding experience and there is a very good chance that there are errors-a-plenty with what I've done. Please don't yell ;)

Did you install UIO

Post by RoyBatty » Fri Oct 07, 2016 11:31 pm

Did you install UIO (Universal Interface Organizer) ?

You have PN Installed, so with FOMM you need to install PN first, then MCM+Updates and allow overwrites, then install other hud mods and *do not* allow overwrites. I'm not sure if oHud requires DarN or not, but I think it probably does. There's a thread here about how to install DarN + these mods, I don't have the link handy though just look around for the DarNified TTW thread (even though the mod is no longer here).

If what you're asking is

Post by Gyg4byt3 » Sat Oct 08, 2016 12:45 am

If what you're asking is whether or not I followed the instructions on this page, then the answer is yes. On the topic of UIO, I did install that and I must have accidentally deactivated it before I got the load order(although I'm not sure if it shows up there. If it doesn't, then yes, at the time of my issue, UIO was present). If there's nothing more you can think of, I suppose It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to go through and reinstall the whole thing and watch out for any issues as I install each mod. Who knows, I might just play it pretty stock to avoid any possible issues (probably not, though...)

Thank for the reply, by the way.

One thing to be careful of

One thing to be careful of with PN is that it comes integrated with it's own mini version of MCM.  Better to overwrite that with the full version of MCM.  If you installed MCM first you probably overwrote it and broke it.  I know I did that initially.

Unfortunately, I'm aware of this and made sure that I installed MCM post PN. To be more accurate than I may have been in my original post, my problems are with the Adjustable HUD menu. For some reason, it won't allow me to select any of the options except "Force HUD visible in MCM". It doesn't allow me to deselect the top options or move the UI around in any way. I also don't have any control over iHud's options (i.e. giving UI elements contextual activation). Again, what I could do is just go back and make my way through the installation process and the modding process and check after every mod and see if it's broken the UI. I really don't want to do this, though.

Lastly, I will mention that it wasn't always a problem. I do believe that it worked for a while (even after PN, oHud, DarN, and the other UI mods that I had installed.) Thanks for the note, though.

I've had the same problems

Post by RoyBatty » Sat Oct 08, 2016 9:44 am

I've had the same problems you are having before I started using TTW actually some years ago. I solved it by installing oHud *after* starting the game. There may be something buggy in the script, I don't know.

How exactly would I go about

Post by Gyg4byt3 » Sat Oct 08, 2016 3:37 pm

How exactly would I go about doing that? oHud (or any mod for that matter) won't get loaded if it's not in the load order when you start the game. Or do you mean starting it as in new char. and all that?

You may also want to check

Post by khumak » Sat Oct 08, 2016 6:00 pm

You may also want to check and make sure you have the latest NVSE plugins.  When I've run into issues like you're having I start from a vanilla install (no mods) and just install bugfixes, NVSE, and mods that mess with the UI.  Once the UI is working properly then I work on adding other mods.

Also for DarnUI depending on which version you got, you might need to manually edit the ini file for the fonts.  I've seen at least 1 version that has an installer that does it for you but most versions I've used I have to do it manually.  I'm guessing you either have a load order issue, old version of NVSE, or are missing one of the compatibility patches.

As in I started the game with all the other stuff installed, and made a save after leaving Doc Mitchells, then installed oHud and it worked.
