Hello, yes, I am having a problem installing TTW (as in, I can't even get the installer to find Fallout 3). I have installed TTW on another computer before (it was Windows 8.1, bleh), but trying to do that on my desktop (Win7) has produced no results whatsoever. My edition of 3 is from the Anthology (the collection in the mini nuke Bethesda was selling awhile back), and it is not the same game disk from the previous install. When I run the installer, it cannot find 3's executable nor BSAs, esms, or other required data, EVEN THOUGH I KNOW FOR A FACT THEY ARE IN THE DATA FOLDER. (C:\program files(x86)\Steam\Steamapps\common\Fallout 3\data). I should probably add that Fallout 3 was installed as "Fallout 3 goty". This is a clean install (of both 3 and NV). Does anyone know what my problem is?

are you running in
are you running in administrator? are the files read-only? did you manually point the installer to the files? post your install log, it can be helpful to us.

Yes, I am running the
Yes, I am running the installer with administrative privileges. However, it still doesn't find the executable when I manually point to it. I would provide the installer log, however one wasn't created... (Experience screwing about with manually installing things would tell me GFWL might have something to do with it...)

if you pointed it to the file
if you pointed it to the file, then clicked install, and then it aborted because it couldn't find the files, then there is an install log in my documents > my games > tale of two wastelands.

I am quoting my post on
I am quoting my post on another user's thread that had the same problem, although Puppettron already covered some of these points.
Just a few things:
Make sure you're running the Installer "As Administrator"
Make sure your antivirus and firewall are not blocking the installer from accessing your Fallout 3 files
Make sure all of your Fallout 3 files and folders are not marked "As Read Only" on their "Properties"
Make sure all your Fallout 3 files are proper and not corrupt by using the "Verify Integrity Of Game Cache" on your game's "Properties > Local Files" steam option
Make sure your Fallout 3 game is in English language
Quoting TrickyVein:
This person had a similar issue but solved his by using a different program to extract the installer.
Hope you can install it soon ![]()

Sorry I haven't been on (lost power for a week, at least I think it was a week), but I do have some news of progress. After revalidating the game through Steam (a few times), I managed to get the installer to find the executable and the files needed. However, now my problem is the recommended fomod installer (FOMM) gives me an error, saying I need a newer version of the software to install TTW. Likely a stupid question, but where can I find the latest version of Fallout Mod Manager?

probably on LL. since the fomods for TTW are pretty simple though, and there's not a whole lot of things out there that also need latest FOMM, you could also follow the manual install directions if you don't feel like updating your FOMM
