Seemingly random CTDs on changing cells and increased freezing as I play

Post by CheeseAlmighty » Sun Nov 29, 2015 6:43 pm

I've been playing for a while now, and by the time passes, frequency of CTDs are increasing. I'm not stranger to occasional CTDs when playing modded fallout, but it's started to become quite annoying.

At first it was triggered with fast travel, or when just changing cells. Now it's getting laggy as I play, and opening containers and trade menus cause a fps spike that goes for few seconds, stuttering the sound as well. I tried purging cells, but that ain't working as well.

I did add few minor mods that added some recipes, after I started playing, but I was having problems already as I started.

Any ideas?

System Specs: OS: Win10 64 bit.      CPU: Intel i5-4460 3.20 Ghz   RAM: 8 GB

Extra specs(dxdiag): http://hastebin.com/gijiyokuru.tex

Mod Manager: FOMM 0.14.11.12 (latest)

TTW install log: http://hastebin.com/xojejufaxe.tex

Current mod order(arranged by LOOT): http://hastebin.com/unamajimig.py

I have the Fallout 3 GOTY and New vegas ultimate both from steam. Also, I was having problems launching the game, so I installed windows live, which made it work, if that's any use.

Thanks in advance, sand halp pls. :3

New Vegas doesn't use GFWL at all, not sure why you needed to install that.

Well you don't need RWD with RWED since it does everything RWD does and then some. Although this probably isn't the cause of your instability.

What do you have for graphics mods installed?

Looks like the audio library is getting unhandled exceptions.

You might try this vorbis update, the files go into your Fallout New Vegas root folder (where the game is installed). BE SURE TO BACKUP YOUR ORIGINAL FILES FIRST. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/31486587/NewVegasVorbisUpdate.7z

Try the things in this thread https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/ttw-performance-guide

Make a merge or bash patch.

FO3 wasn't launching, I

Post by CheeseAlmighty » Sun Nov 29, 2015 8:36 pm

FO3 wasn't launching, I thought you have to launch the game before modding, no? That's why I did it.

Oh, I thought RWED just added FO3 stuff. I like having the alternative mode though, for higher damage. I'm not sure if RWED has that.

I just have the weapon retexture project.

*shrug* I'm not sure what's happening in my audio library. I did replace few items in there when I was installing the mods, but that didn't remove anything, I guess just made it a bit, well, patchy, as far as sounds go.

For the rest of your suggestions, well. I added a purge cell mod for now, I simple one, just to do the good ol "pcb" every ten minutes, and I'm doing it as it stutters as well. Seems that it's working better, but if I start getting CTDs on changing cells again, I'll try them. (Or should I do them anyway?). Also, oh, I thought we weren't supposed to use NVAC... Aaand, I checked, I read NVEC wrong in FAQ. Damn. I'll just install NVAC instead. I'll update if that fixes the problem entirely.

And thanks.

So, I tried merge patch,

So, I tried merge patch, vorbis update and everything on that thread except 6-7. Increasing stutter is gone, but the CTDs remain.

I realized two things, one is that it stutters when it's setting up a random encounter, for few seconds.

Two, NMC's texture pack and YUP was running in the background. Even though it wasn't on FOMM. I was using them in my previous playthrough, loaded by NMM. I removed them both.  After removing it, I added the mod you merged: https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/ttw-fallout-3-new-vegas-redesigned

Still nothing. Would they cause permanent damage? Do I have to make a clean copy of the game? Or is just verifying the integrity fine? Or anything else I could try?

YUP will cause permanent bugs

Post by RoyBatty » Fri Dec 04, 2015 9:50 pm

YUP will cause permanent bugs, that's why we created TTW Fixes.

Reading the FAQ is kind of not optional with TTW.

Yeah, I know I wasn't suppose

Post by CheeseAlmighty » Sat Dec 05, 2015 12:01 am

Yeah, I know I wasn't suppose to install YUP. Like I said, it was installed in NMM for an only NV playthrough, I removed it in FOMM, but apparently, it wasn't removed after all...

I usually read the documentation through and through, it just happened that I overlooked a detail. Oh well... So, is my save permanently dead? Is there any way to recover? At least the char, maybe?

I'm not entirely sure if it

Post by RoyBatty » Sun Dec 06, 2015 3:21 am

I'm not entirely sure if it can be saved. I know that other people who had used it had unfixable problems.

Ah... Well, oh well. Thanks

Ah... Well, oh well. Thanks for your help anyway, I guess I'll stop playing for a while, maybe I'll restart later. I completed all the quests in FO3 already, was going to move to NV, so it's alright. With over 100s of crashes, but still, finished.
