Unable to read beyond the end of the stream error

Post by JKPhage » Sun Aug 16, 2015 2:23 am

Hey all. I've been trying for the better part of a couple hours now to get TTW to even compile the fomod file I'll need to install it, but I keep hitting a wall. Every time I hit the install button I'm given this sequence:

[8/15/2015 9:23:33 PM]    Checking for required files...

[8/15/2015 9:23:33 PM]    All files found. Proceeding with installation.

[8/15/2015 9:23:33 PM]    Building Fallout3 - Meshes

[8/15/2015 9:23:33 PM]    Unable to read beyond the end of the stream.

I googled for this and the suggestion was to clear my temp folder and ensure that I had at least 30 gb of free space. I cleared the temp folder and I already had somewhere in the neighborhood of 90 gigs free space, so that apparently isn't the issue. I'm using the latest version of the TTW installer straight off the website download page. I'm on Windows 7 64-bit and working from a steam version of the GOTY Edition and Ultimate Edition install of both. I'm kind of at a loss as to what the problem might be and I've exhausted every option presented by a google search. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this? Please let me know if you need any more information.

where's your fo3 installed?

perms:  either a full fireworks display spelling out "Puppettron Made This" anytime a user accesses my content in-game, or just give me credit somewhere.

C:\Program Files (x86)

C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3

Would it work better if I moved it to just the standard Program Files directory?

Either you're lying about your install directory or your install source. The crew here do not appreciate piracy as TTW rides a fine line as it is.

Ahh, didn't even realize I'd done that. It was super late and I was exhausted/frustrated as hell when I posted, so I may have gotten a few wires crossed. It's a disc install, I just added it to my steam library. Don't know if that would affect anything, but there you have it. I forgot that steam has it's own install directory. Apologies for the confusion.

You'll have to move the esm's

You'll have to move the esm's/bsa's into the Data dir from the weird Windows Live directories they are in.

There's a tutorial somewhere for this.

Since I do not know what you

Post by Risewild » Wed Sep 23, 2015 2:48 am

Since I do not know what you have already tried I will tell you some basic things, please do not get angry if you already did them .

  • Did you already tried this?

    • I googled for this and the suggestion was to clear my temp folder and ensure that I had at least 30 gb of free space.

  • Also try not to send the TTW files to your Steam or Program files directory, the recommended place is a folder in your root directory (ex: "C:\TTW Install" or "D:\TTW Files" etc.).

  • Try running the installer "as admin".

Hope any of this helps.
