New Game problem

Post by USAFGhostWolf » Mon Jul 27, 2015 5:03 am

Hello,

I recently finished a new build and just finished getting everything installed.  Loading games works fine, but I am unable to start a new one.  The screen goes black and all I get is the HUD.  I am still able to pull up the pause screen, but that is all.

System: Windows 8.1, Intel i5 processor, 16 GB RAM

Mod Manager: FOMM 0.14.11.13

LOAD ORDER:

I have looked at the .ini files, as it suggests in the FAQs; they appeared to check out.  I only noticed the problem today when I decided that I had wanted to start a new game, so I have not had too much time to experiment.  These same mods seemed to work fine on my other machine.   FO3 is a Steam GOTY and I got the Steam all-in-one for FNV.

Try disabling Better Game Performance and Performance of the Gods

If I remember correctly one or both of those mods deletes records from FNV that are unused in FNV but ARE used in TTW. One of those records could be the FO3 start quest.

Disable all mods before

Disable all mods before starting a new game, Vault 101 and the intro part of TTW is very sensitive to mods and quite unstable (just like it was in Fallout 3), after you get out of vault 101 you can enable the mods you want.

Also unless you plan to start in NV do not enable the TTW_StartupMenu.esp (which does nothing at all except clog the LO if one doesn't want to start in NV).

I was planning in starting in 101.  It did not work.  I am going to try reinstalling TTW and check the game files to make sure they are all intact.

Both of those mods are placebo anyways, deleting or disabling references does not remove them from the game. The engine still knows they are there, and doing so can actually cause game breaking bugs. They also end up in your save file bloating it.

Got it working, I think reinstalling TTW fixed the problem.
