Intro Issues

Post by CourierandWanderer » Thu Jul 09, 2015 11:55 pm

I'm new to your forum. I downloaded and installed TTW, thinking I'd try out something new after playing an abundant amount of other mods for FNV. I had to install TTW manually because FOMM or NMM just wouldn't install it.

Here is my problem. When I start a new game, it automatically goes to the intro video for FNV; and then after that, it goes to the intro video for FO3. After that's done, I'm in Doc Mitchell's house. This is not what I was expecting. I wanted to start with the FO3 video as the intro and at the Jefferson Memorial for my character's birth. How do I fix this?

Step 2

You need to make an edit to your .INI files so that you start the game properly.  This is normally done by the .fomod when it is installed but sometimes for some reason a manual edit is necessary:

  • The files you're looking for are C:\Users\YourName\Documents\My Games\FalloutNV\Fallout.ini and C:\Users\YourName\Documents\My Games\FalloutNV\FalloutPrefs.ini

  • You may also want to make the changes in FalloutDefault.ini in the game folder as well, if you use the normal game launcher for some reason.  Using that launcher overwrites Fallout.ini with the values in FalloutDefault.ini every time it's run.

  • Make these changes:

    • SCharGenQuest = 001FFFF8

    • sIntroMovie = (yes this one is blank on purpose, it needs to be blank)

    • bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles = 1 [/quote]

You didn't read all the manual install instructions or used the vanilla launcher which will overwrite the needed .ini changes.

Look at step 2 of the manual install instructions for the needed info.

If your using mod organizer the .ini's are in a different location but I don't use MO so I have no clue where they are.

Well, shit. I can't believe I missed that. Thanks, I'll give it a try after I finish eating my dinner.

EDIT (Merge Posts):

Okay, new problem. The new text I put in the Fallout.ini file in the Documents directory for FNV will not work. The file is read-only, but that was overwritten. And then, starting the game through Steam, the .INI defaults itself and goes back to read-only. Solutions, please?

EDIT (MP 2):

Wait, this wouldn't have to do with NVSE, would it?

No not a NVSE issue.

No not a NVSE issue.

Right click on the ini and go to properties you can uncheck the "read only"

There are 3 ini's that need to be changed. 2 in the game saves folder and 1 in the main game folder marked "default" if the default is not changed anytime the game is launched through steam that is the one the overwrites the other two.

If life is but a test, where's the damn answer key?!?!?

Hold on, I think I got it. It's now starting regularly. Give me a day or two in case there's later another problem.

Don't use the vanilla launcher. If you do, make the changes in fallout_default.ini which is located in the game's installation folder.
