Slow loading saves

I'm at 26 hours in and saves around 7MB in size. Loading save games seems to take a lot longer than usual. It's taking 30 seconds just to reload after dying. Loading screens are fine though. They load quickly.

Is this normal or is it a mod issue?.

You might want to clarify if you're using the TTWOptions hotfix or version 2.9.4b (either). Because an old version was known to cause issues with that.

Some have reported issues with the new one as well, so try disabling it and see if your saves load faster.

And finally, if you're like me, it's presence or non-presence actually seems to make no difference and your saves load times get slower and slower anyway. (I'm still trying to pin down why that's happening, but it's hard to test since it takes several hours for a save to show symptoms).

I don't know if that's my issue exactly. I came to the conclusion that if I started a game with the hotfix, removing it didn't affect my save game load times (which progressively got longer as I played). (On a whim, I started a game with the old version and switched over when load times got too long, and strangely enough that seemed to have worked. Although I'll have to see if they get worse again.) Unfortunately, I don't have an intact load order from my last attempt, so I don't think I can help you much. I'll attach a text file with the mods in your order that I've also used in case that helps though.

Anyway, we should probably keep this thread for the OP's problem, not mine. At present we have no way of knowing if they're related.

And as a side-note: 15 seconds isn't bad. After my 'fix,' mine are at 10 and I have a pretty damn good system running off an SSD.

Actually I removed ttwoptions. I know about the loading problem for that. So I don't want to risk the possibility of another playthrough suffering the same issues.

The thing is, I felt like this hit suddenly. Only recently I noticed this. I thought it was because of what I installed recently, but I removed mods I installed for the past few weeks and still no changes. STill trying to pinpoint what actually causes the issue.

It's incredibly annoying when reloading from death.

Rampant Speculation: You didn't happen to start Operation Anchorage recently, did you? There's not much to this, other than in my last game with this problem, I felt like it somewhere around that point.

Otherwise, can't offer much help beyond "Try without x,y,z mods." It's what I've been doing, and yes, it is painful.

Nope. I haven't done Anchorage yet on this save.

I see that you guys also have TTW Interiors Project installed. That mod adds a ton of locations on the game's world right? (FO3 and FNV)

Maybe that could cause that, but uninstalling it for me did nothing.

I'll not be providing old versions of TTW to test because of incompatibility issues. I will say that this is unique to the 2.9.x line of TTW versions, and I'd like to have more people testing on fresh games *without* TTW Options installed.

As an experiment, can you guys try this.

stopquest 0x01b68e , where 0x is the load order of taleoftwowastelands.esm , make a save, quit and reload.

if it makes no difference then start the quest again with the same id.

try again with quest id 0x01862a, make a save, quit, reload and see if you get any difference again.

If it makes no difference again, restart the quest with the same id.

Unfortunately disabling either (or both) of those quests had no effect on my load times. Or none that I could detect with a stopwatch, anyway.

Out of curiosity, what are they, and why would you suspect they'd cause anything?
