Install Trouble I/O Error While Copying Music Files

Post by Zimbog » Wed May 06, 2015 4:21 am

Hey guys first time installing TTW, but I'm getting an error from the Installer. When it tries to copy the FO3 music files, after about 20 minutes with no progress in the status bar, a pop-up appears saying "An error occured while installing: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error." The only option is "Okay". In the install log, it also says "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error." And then it stops installing anything. Any advice?

Operating system: Windows 7 64-bit

Processor: Intel Core i5-2410 CPU @2.30GHz

Memory: 6 GB

FO3 version: Game of the Year from Steam

All FO3 files have been set to read-only, I ran the installer as an administrator, and the install path is not in the same folder as FO3 or FNV.

disable the read only, it doesn't modify them but I seem to remember read only being a problem... if that doesn't fix it, I'll need to sleep on it and see if anything occurs to me.

Well this probably isn't the issue but might be worth trying anyway. Did you verify if the integrity of the game cache for FO3 was OK? If not go to steam, select FO3 and right click and select properties. Then select local files where you can select "verify integrity of game cache". This will just check to make sure everything is ok. If not it will fix it.

Thanks Royhr, that was exactly the problem! As per your suggestion, I verified the game cache and it said something along the lines of "One file failed to validate and will be reacquired." After that, I attempted to install TTW again and the rest of the installer proceeded as normal and now I can get to the FOMM portion of the download.

Oh and sorry Jax, I meant to say all files were set to NON read only. Sorry for the error.

Thank you both for the quick replies. I look forward to tracking TTW's progress. Keep doing what you're doing!
