Installation Help

Post by smoothestjazz » Thu Feb 05, 2015 6:16 pm

So I downloaded FOMM and TTW and tried to install it. Everything was breezy until I got to opening the packages up in FOMM, as the F:NV files were in FOMM, but the Fallout 3 files weren't even though I have both games installed and ready to run.

Does anyone know why FOMM didn't show my Fallout 3 files? It's keeping me from using the mod, and I've been stuck at this stage for about a week. I've tried everything I can, even deleting all Fallout content from my PC and redownloading it without success. Please advise, as this mod looks badass and I want to give it a go.

Did you follow EVERYTHING in this post?

If you didn't, it's going to fail.

From your image, it looks like you did not FOMM install the main TTW FOMOD but there is usually more missed instructions that people do not follow and the mod fails to be installed or load.

I did to the best of my knowledge

All of the correct files that should be in FOMM are in the TTW install folder I created, but they just don't seem to copy over when I install the FOMOD. Also, after I install the main FOMOD, FOMM won't let me install the optional one, giving me the error that the main FOMOD had not been installed.

Which FOMM are you using?

Which FOMM are you using?  You need to be using this one and be running it as Administrator...

That is the one I'm using, and I do run it as administrator when I launch it.

Try cleaning out your temp

Post by KeltecRFB » Fri Feb 06, 2015 1:10 am

Try cleaning out your temp directory, try installing again.  If that does not work, see below...

In order to cut back on the people going "Help it's not working" and then providing no information, here is a quick guide to what we need to help you.

System Specs (including Operating System, Processor, and Memory, nobody cares about your graphics card)

Mod Manager and Version

TTW Install Log (My Documents\my games\TaleOfTwoWastelands\Install Log.txt)

Current Load Order (Most mod managers have a quick and easy way to export this)

Symptoms (What is it doing vs. What you expect it to be doing)

What you have already tried?

Additionally, we'd like to have some information on your specific version of Fallout 3:

Steam download

Steam download game of the year

Original discs

Game of the year discs

Windows live download

Windows live download game of the year

OS: Windows 8.1

Post by smoothestjazz » Fri Feb 06, 2015 2:06 am

OS: Windows 8.1

Processor: Intel i5-4200U

RAM: 8 GB

Mod Manager: Fallout Mod Manager v. 0.13.21

The most recent log includes everything being rebuilt, as I attempted to reinstall it. (attached below)

Load order (attached below)

Symptoms: The Mod Manager isn't showing any Fallout 3 files, and due to the manager not recognizing any Fallout 3 files, it won't let me properly install the main or optional FOMOD

I've tried deleting both of the games, the mod, and the mod manager from my PC and redownloading it but it doesn't work still.

Fallout 3 GOTY

Thank you for all the help!

You do not have the correct

Post by KeltecRFB » Fri Feb 06, 2015 3:02 am

You do not have the correct FOMM, there are two versions, the old version which does not work and the newest version which does work.  The old version 0.13.21 does not support large mods and the newest version, 0.14.11.9 does not have mod size detection turned on so it works.

http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/54991/?

I thought you said you read the instructions?

When the installer finishes it will ask if you would like it to make a FOMOD; TTW is much easier to install with a mod manager - see below for recommendations.  If you would rather do a manual install (not recommended) see the instructions in the next section.

MOD MANAGERS:

- RECOMMENDED: Fallout Mod Manager (FOMM) 0.14.11.9 can handle the install perfectly, even on lower-end systems. If you have issues and are sure you are on FOMM 0.14.11.9 you can swap out the exe with this LAA patch.

Works, with caveats: Mod Organizer works fine with TTW, though you'll have some learning to do to get the hang of it if you don't already use it. Use UIO for your HUD mods.

- NOT recommended: Nexus Mod Manager (NMM) does not handle large mods well, and tends to generate errors and crashes when installing TTW, even on very high-end computers.

- NOT recommended: Fallout Mod Manager (FOMM) 0.13.21 is no longer supported for use with TTW due to FOMM being actively developed again. Seriously, just upgrade.
