Blank menu Upon Starting FNV

Post by dragostarc » Sun Nov 02, 2014 5:04 pm

Hey, so I tried installing TTW and it installed correctly as far as I know. When I activated it in FOMM, however, and started the game, it went through the initial load screen up until the screen showing the Ranger with his revolver. From there, it was just that screen and no menu to continue, load, etc., and the NV title theme playing. my specs are: Windows 8.1

8GB RAM

1.5ghz Dual Core AMD E1-1500 APU

64-bit OS

FOMM 0.14.11.9

I have already tried the fix from https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/ttw-24-no-menu-fix-tutorial-should-work-26x-too , and the problem persists.

EDIT: I forgot to add my load order

it doesn'y look as if you did

it doesn'y look as if you did a fresh install of TTW. did you install the other mods before or after TTW? also you need a patch for WMX and TTW.

personally i'd start with a clean install. reinstall the game from scratch, install nvse (or not the kick ass installer the team created will install it for ya), install ttw, then work all other mods arround TTW.

that will give TTW the best chance to work well.

edit: sorry, internet hic-up.

I didn't have a clean FNV to start with when I installed TTW. So I reinstall FNV, then TTW. after that I add my other mods in?

that is what i would suggest.

that is what i would suggest. i may not be necessary but it's your best shot at successful game playing with TTW. also keep an eye on mod conversion and mod release forums. example WMX need a patch to play well with TTW and one of the TTW team was kind enough to provide one.

So yeah I reinstalled a fresh NV, disabled all my other mods, reinstalled a fresh version of TTW, and nothing changed. except this time, after about a minute or two of waiting for a menu thinking one would appear, Fallout CTD'd.

Are you using any mods that alter base game content? One time, I was trying to install a colored cursor mod that altered such a file, and I got the exact same thing. Uninstalling it fixed the issue for me.

Altering base game content?

Post by dragostarc » Mon Nov 03, 2014 3:21 am

Altering base game content? Maybe like a HUD mod but I thought it would get removed in the reinstallation, and I tried a fresh reload of TTW and just TTW first. My load order is what it should be for it.

The best suggestion is this, do not install any mods other then TTW until AFTER you exit Vault 101.

You should have a clean install of FO3 + NV to start from, patch TTW as normal, let the installer install NVSE, and get the 4GB address aware installed. That's all. Play though Vault 101 using just TTW + any of the TTW options you want. Make a save at the door right before you leave into the CW (the changegen door). Backup that save and keep it. (This way you don't need to go though the whole intro on another character.)

Vault 101 does not like mods and FO3 character gen isn't nearly as mod friendly as NV's is.

As to your load order check the install page, also make sure the ini files are correctly altered:

Finally there is a section for missing menus in the FAQ that may help you as well.

Overall, make sure that TTW by itself is installed correctly before you go modding it, makes it easier to see if its a mod that's causing it, or if your install didn't work out correctly.
