Strange problem.

Post by Miar » Tue Oct 21, 2014 6:38 pm

Hi there. Recently i've installed TTW (2 days ago), at the same time as Win8. I was super hyped I did everything by the book and searched the forums (and also google). Didn't seem to find anything like that. Problem is - when i press "new game" and choose "Mojave" everything runs smoothly. But when i choose CW it doesn't go to loading screen, the choice window goes away and it just leaves me in a dark room. I can move and turn on pipboy lights. When i try command "coc megatonn" game freezes for about one minute and then goes on, like nothing happened. If it is imortant, i have NMC textures for fnv, but not for FO3 (this doesn't seem to be relevant). I hope i do not annoy you with my poor literacy and (probably) stupid problem, but I really do need help. -Fallout 3 GOTY and FNV+all addons are bought through steam. -I did try to turn all the mods off (exept the TTW related). Thank you.

I got win8 x64, 6gb ram, AMD FX(tm)-4100 quad-core processor (3.60hz). I normally use NMM, but to install TTW i used the latest version of FOMM (0.14.11)

Sorry for the initial lack of information. I didn't try using the train station by the way. I'll try to do that today.

Yop, that's not your first install log but it seems to be OK.

Where did you get those plugins: FalloutNV_lang.esp, DeadMoney_lang.esp, OldWorldBlues_lang.esp, HonestHearts_lang.esp, LonesomeRoad_lang.esp, GunRunnersArsenal_lang.esp?

There's some mods that you shouldn't use with TTW:

Don't use NVinteriors, use TTWinteriors instead: https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/ttw-interiors-project-v25

FWE and FOOK are not really compatible with TTW. You may want to check PANZER instead: https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/panzer

If you want to use AWOP FO3, use this conversion: https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/world-pain-fo3

You shouldn't use Momod. The very last version will cause some issues with TTW, you won't be able to use it properly without some extra work. Check around here you will found several threads.

Don't use "BetterGamePerformanceV4.esp" with TTW.

You shouldn't use NVCE, use TTWRedesigned instead: https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/ttw-fallout-3-new-vegas-redesigned and TTW Fixes: https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/ttw-fixes-bugfix-pack-ttw

If you want to use Destruction Overhaul, then you really should go with PANZER: https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/panzer

Don't use the Basic Nevada Skies, use the TTW edition and don't forget the get the fixed esp by Krux in the thread: https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/nevada-skies-ttw-edition

Don't use the regular EVE for FNV but the TTW conversion: https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/ttw-eve

And don't forget to check the compatibility patch thread: https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/compatibility-patch-thread

Here's a bonus link: https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/directory-ttw-converted-mods

Also i can see that you really need to "read the read me" before using any mod because even without using TTW, you will have some troubles with this load order wink You also really want to use BOSS or LOOT to handle your load order. If you're new into modding, take the time to read the FAQ or you will have some troubles: https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/faq

With this you've got hours of work to do, good luck! :)

what's happening in your OP

Post by Puppettron » Wed Oct 22, 2014 12:04 pm

what's happening in your OP there:

the start menu optional throws you into that room to run it's game mode scripts to pick where the menu pops up and it sorts out where to send you.  what appears to be happening is that the script is getting killed before moving you to your mother's birth canal for the fo3 CG quests.  why that would be happening that way is beyond me atm, but you may consider moving everything in your data folder except for FNV + DLCs, Fo3 + DLCs, TTW + Optionals and the associated BSAs out of your data folder temporarily and trying again.

also, Megaton isn't a valid COC point.  MegatonPlaza is.

manos, yes, that is not my first installation. I did it before changing my win7 to win8, and then re-runned it just to be sure. "_land" files are for russian localization, which makes game's main menu load about 2 minutes. That load order was sorted by LOOT, and I am not new to the modding. Although optimization of mods is not my thing it seems.

Puppettron, that much i figured myself. But script doesn't work only for Capital Wasteland. Trying out "coc MegatonPlaza did transport me to the right place. So the only problem is getting out of that room to the FO3's beginning. The fallout.ini tinkering were done as in instructions.

Also, do I need to uninstall all of conflicting mods, or just disable them? Because right now they all are disabled, but not uninstalled. Also, BIG thank you for help. I'll go ahead and start doing stuff.

right, the script runs as

Post by Puppettron » Wed Oct 22, 2014 12:48 pm

right, the script runs as soon as you start new, it throws you into that room then runs.  since it's running NV selection right, then there's something stopping it when you pick DC.  and because i know that script and the quest it runs from is unique to the start menu mod, then it's either getting shanked by some other process or your copy is corrupted.

uninstalling would be guaranteed to be cleaner, but it really comes down to however you want to do it.

If I had to guess, I would say some mod he has installed is modifying the FO3 chargen quest. So when the start menu calls startquest cg00 it just fails.
