Installer Keeps Crashing

Post by reignofterr0r » Mon Oct 20, 2014 5:24 am

EDIT: Some of my BSAs were corrupted. A re-check in Steam fixed this problem.

System Specs

Windows 7 Pro x64, Intel Core i7 - 2860QM 2.50 GHz, 16 GB RAM

Mod Manager, Load Order, ETC: Not Applicable

Symptoms

Open installer with administrative privledges, check all the paths, and hit install. It will very quickly freeze at washmontop*somenumbers*.nif. Windows will then tell me that the installer has stopped working. When I try to debug it in the Visual Studio Debugger it says the cause of the crash is as says below:

[collapsed title=Crash Exception]An unhandled exception of type 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.SEHException' occurred in mscorlib.dll

Additional information: External component has thrown an exception.[/collapsed]

Any help or ideas would be appreciated. I have tried every type of debugging I can do on my end.

There's an issue with the 7z

There's an issue with the 7z.dll/7z64.dll in your installation. Make sure antivirus or anything else that could be modifying the installer files is disabled, and then re-extract the installer archive and try again.

Ok, so I disabled my anti-virus and it still is throwing the exact same exception. I do use 7Zip as my normal way of managing compressed files so could that be an issue? It could be using a different library than its supposed to.

EDIT: Alright, I uninstalled 7Zip, and it still crashes. I've made sure that the 7z.dll and 7z64.dlls are intact.
