Waters of Life- Dad won't accept that I've killed all mutants

I'm stuck on the quest Waters of Life, because James refuses to acknowledge that I've killed all the enemies in both the gift shop and the sub-basement.


Is there any sort of console work-around I can use to progress through the quest?

You might try "setstage xx014e8b 30". You will need to replace xx with the mod index number. In my game, that is 06, but if you have those crap packs installed ahead of Fallout3.esm, your mod index number may be different. Chances are, however, that there is a mutie lurking somewhere, maybe in a little alcove on the first floor in the hallway to the right of the room where the turret is.


My computer specs are too embarrassing to reveal, but the game still runs.

I ran into a similar issue recently and I'm not sure what caused it. I went into the memorial and resurrected a few mutants using the console and killed them again. The quest went along fine after that.


Produces the programming equivalent of coffee stains.

Its possible that one of the mutants spawned inside a wall or something and thats why the quest isnt completing...

Usually leaving and going back in will spawn the mutant in a place where you can kill em. Seems to be a vanilla bug iirc.
