Repair Overpowered

Post by david88m » Tue Jul 28, 2015 8:22 am

Hello everyone, I am having a little problem with the repair of weapons, armor and so on. I am at level 1 and can repair any object up to 100%.

This is my load order ... I state that I have already tried to disable all the mods and try only TTW installed.

Sorry for my English

That is not a bug, that is how Fallout New Vegas does repair. As long as you have enough armors or weapons you can repair anything until 100% no matter the skill level.

Yeah NV repair has always been OP. There are a couple dozen repair mods on the Nexus but none that change it to work like FO3. Changing the entire way the games repair system works might be too much for a mod, but it would be awesome if someone had the time to check it out. :)

Yes I would like it how it was in FO3 too, but I'm not sure if it can be done.

I, for one, am happy it is not like FO3.

My computer specs are too embarrassing to reveal, but the game still runs.

There are pros and cons for each style.

FO3 style pros include balancing weapon repair/damage to level, reason to increase repair early for better weapons. Cons are the added complexity and somewhat unintuitive gameplay that you have these items but can't repair them over a certain level 'because'.

FNV style pros, intuitive gameplay, repair things up to max if you have the items. Cons, loss of game balance due to low repair weapons, greatly decreased need of repair skill for non-crafting playthroughs means there's no real reason to focus on it at all.

It's worth pointing out that in each system your repair skill determines how well you repair one item with another. The greater your skill the more relative repair % you get from combining one gun into another.

Like Grib says, the idea that you can't repair past a certain level in FO3 'because' doesn't make much sense.

In New Vegas, as long as you have the materials to keep improving, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to. Even the worst repairman could make one good thing out of 100 cowboy repeaters.

I'm not alright, I'm an equal amount of left.
