Cannot travel to New Vegas

I'm pretty nooby at fallout modding so I'm going to need this explained to me in a really detailed manner.


So I've been having the whitescreen issue listed in the FAQ: https://taleoftwowastelands.com/content/faq#gamefreezedrmitchell


So I do as it says, disable the file, and when I load up my save, this pops up.


 



So if I click yes, it just puts me in Doc Mitchell's house like I'm starting a brand new New Vegas game.

Using Windows 7 64 bit, intel i5 aswell 4670, with 8 gb of ram.


Using Nexus mod manager 0.52.1

Huh...I think I've had this issue.


Check the .ini. There were a couple of lines that were supposed to be changed during installation, but might not have due to an error. Just a sec...lemme look it up...


Find the Fallout and FalloutPrefs cfg files.


In both, find the line SCharGenQuest= and change it to SCharGenQuest=001FFFF8. Also, find the line sIntroMovie=, and ensure that the entry is blank. (It should just say sIntroMovie=). Lastly, find  bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFile = and change it to bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFile = 1.


Repeat, when done, these are the relevant lines:


SCharGenQuest=001FFFF8


sIntroMovie=


bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFile = 1


Be sure to untick read only when you make the changes, and retick it when you're done.


However, even with the correction, the fix only applies to new save files.


EDIT:


Double checking, when you start a new game with the TTWStartupmenu disabled, does it play both intro movies and then start you off at Doc Mitchell's?

Then yes, you're probably having the same issue I did.


Check the cfg files like I said, and make the corrections if needed. Again, it will only affect new save files. Every other file is going to have to deal with a screwed up clock.


The cfg files are in documents\my games\falloutnv by default.

Did you remember to set the cfgs to read only again? Also, where are you launching the game from? If you're using the regular launcher, you're going to have to edit Fallout_Default in the main NV folder as well.


Update: You did edit both fallout and falloutprefs, right?

If you aren't using the 4GB

If you aren't using the 4GB patch, and have the Steam version, just choosing the "Launch NV" option from NMM will still launch it through Steam, which uses the normal launcher.


If this pops up, you're still using the normal launcher, which means you have to edit Falloutdefault in steam/steamapps/common/fallout new vegas.

I edited the default file, and without the startup menu enabled I now start off in fallout 3. Just making sure (before I beat the main game and all 5 DLCS again) this will stop the whitescreen issue?

Yes. The startup mod has also been updated as well which should hopefully take care of the whiteout issue too, which I'm told it does.
