Installer.exe not working

I've been trying to install TTW using the installer.exe file, but it just won't work. By "won't work" I don't mean it shows some error message, it just flat out does nothing. I've set the .exe to have administrator privileges, started it in administrator mode, and still nothing. I have F:NV (Not ultimate edition) with all DLC, and both F3 And F3: GOTY. I use Windows 8.1, but I doubt that is the problem. Can anyone help?

Need a bit more info. Are these clean installs? (no mods)

Have you specified both directories correctly?

Have you set an install path other than your Fallout New Vegas directory?

Are these legit copies of the games?

I don't think windows 8 is the issue...but then again, I have such little experience with it. Feel like we would have heard from more users had that been the case.Are you getting a "Not Responding" message on the installer?

By specifying directories, I assume you mean with the Fallout Mod Manager. If so, then yes.

The games are legitimate, and are clean of mods.

I'm not sure what you mean by install path, honestly

And there is no "Not Responding" message with the installer, it just does nothing. I'll double-click it, say yes to the administrator pop-up, and no windows will appear. No errors, nothing.

By specifying directories I mean the folders in which your games are located in. The installer should prompt you to locate the game directories if it can't find them automatically. By default Fallout 3 should be

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 3 GOTY

and Fallout New Vegas should be

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas

I can't specify the directories with the installer because the installer just flat out does nothing. It may be because I placed the .exe as a shortcut on my desktop, but I highly doubt that.

Okay, delete everything you downloaded from this website. Download taleoftwowastelands2.9.4b.7z again from the Alpha Download page, save it to your desktop, extract it to your desktop, and try running the installer again.

That actually seemed to work, thank you. But now, the installer can't seem to find the Tale Of Two Wastelands file and I honestly don't know what to do. I included a picture showing my download preferences and what shows up when I try to press install.

Well it says it can't find any of your Fallout 3 files. Are you sure you have them installed in that exact location? Is it possible you may have moved them some place else? In that file path I gave you, you should be able to find your Fallout 3 .esm and .bsa files.

If those files are there, then that is the correct directory. Did the installer automatically find them for you, or did you have to navigate and do it yourself?

this may be a dumb question but did you run the game at least once with the vanilla launcher? You need to do this so the game will build the proper registry files needed for the installer to work.
