Crashes When Entering a New Room and When Fast Traveling

Post by EChondo » Mon Jul 07, 2014 3:37 am

System Specs(I have the full list on my profile):

  • Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit

  • i7-3770 (stock)

  • 32GB of RAM (stock, 1333MHz, 1.5v)

  • Crossfire 7870's (stock, 1100MHz core and 1200MHz Memory clocks)

Mod Manager and Version:

  • FOMM 0.10

I initially tried NMM, but NMM kept crashing when installing the main .fomod. I tried running as admin, but the issue remained. I used FOMM instead and it has been working fine.

TTW Install Log:

If Pastebin is not acceptable for this, then please say so. I thought using Pastebin for the install log would minimize clutter a bit more.

Current Load Order:

  • [X] FalloutNV.esm

  • [X] DeadMoney.esm

  • [X] HonestHearts.esm

  • [X] OldWorldBlues.esm

  • [X] LonesomeRoad.esm

  • [X] GunRunnersArsenal.esm

  • [X] CaravanPack.esm

  • [X] ClassicPack.esm

  • [X] MercenaryPack.esm

  • [X] TribalPack.esm

  • [X] Fallout3.esm

  • [X] Anchorage.esm

  • [X] ThePitt.esm

  • [X] BrokenSteel.esm

  • [X] PointLookout.esm

  • [X] Zeta.esm

  • [X] TaleOfTwoWastelands.esm

  • [X] TTWHOMESWEETHOME.esp

Symptoms:

  • I am experiencing random crashing when loading interior(entering doorways) and exterior areas(fast traveling). I am playing through Fallout 3 first so I have not touched the Mojave yet. This happens literally anywhere and has happened a couple minutes into playing and even hours without issues. I crash pretty much anywhere in the Wasteland, it has happened near Megaton, Rivet City, GNR, Tenpenny Tower, Raven Rock, etc. Everywhere really...

What you have already tried?:

  • I have uninstalled TTW and redownloaded my Fallout games over to my C drive and resintalled TTW there as well. 99% of the time I download and install my games to my secondary drive that is dedicated for games and mods, as it allows me to keep my Steam library and whatnot off of my SSD. I thought this may have been the problem, but it is still occurring even when my games and TTW install are on my C drive.

  • I lowered my game quality down to the bare minimum except for the resolution being 1920x1080. Problem remains.

  • I uninstalled the TTW Home Sweet Home mod, but the problem still persists.

  • I have also disabled and removed my second GPU entirely, for testing, but the crashes are still happening even after using a single GPU and driver reinstall(tried both the latest Beta(14.6) and WHQL(14.4) drivers from AMD).

Fallout versions?:

  • I am using Fallout 3: GOTY and Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition, both from Steam and recently redownloaded(and doubled checked that they are both at the latest updated versions possible).

This is my first time using TTW and I mainly installed it so Fallout 3 would stop crashing on me(yes, I did every fix I could find on the Internet). At first TTW was working fine, I played for hours on end without any issues, but out of nowhere it started crashing every couple hours, then it seems as if the crashing occurs every other fast travel/loading transition. I've tried my best to scour the Internet and this website for fixes for my issue, but I can find anything about this. Any help would be appreciated!

Are you using the 4GB loader?

Are you using the 4GB loader? NVSE? an ENB? Do you load the game from the FNV Launcher or using FOMM?

Finally, please navigate to Documents/My Games/FalloutNV and attach FalloutPrefs.ini and Fallout.ini

I am not using a 4GB loader, or NVSE or any ENB. Everything I listed in the load order is what I am using. I launch it through FOMM, but I have tried both and the outcome is the same.

I have attached the .ini documents, as well as the default one found in the FalloutNV folder within Steam.

Most importantly, completely disable all manner of autosaves in the options. Most crashes on cell-change are caused by the autosave feature choking because it's trying to write data into a save it corrupted the last time you changed cells.

I disabled autosaving and the crashing still occurs.

Just a quick update, I tried using the 4GB loader provided here: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35262/

It made the crashing a bit less frequent, but crashing still does occur. Would you happen to know of any mods enabling better performance/fixes that would apply to cell changing?

I will be trying these mods soon to see if they help with the issue;

  • http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/53635/ (requires NVSE so I'll be using that too obviously)
