At some point while the installer is attempting to take files from Fallout 3, it causes my entire computer to shut off. This has occurred 3 times so far and is definitely related to the installer. I have Fallout 3 GOTY and Ultimate edition of NV, both on Steam.

My computer is likely a part of the issue, as it's had other issues of similar things taking place. Every once in awhile playing Civilization V, for example, my computer also shuts down. I do not know what causes it in either situation, but I hope there is a way around it, at least for this one.

This usually happens because you are missing one of the required redistributables. Double check the alpha page.

I installed both the x64 and x86 2012 Redistributables, as well as made sure that my .NET Framework is up to date. I was unable to install the 2010 Redistributables, as it said I already had the newer versions installed. I am still having the same error.

It would appear that the reason I couldn't install the 2010's was not because of the 2012's, but instead because I apparently already had them. With all of them installed, I am still crashing at some point during the second pop-up, after I've pressed Enter once.

Just in case: Is your OS clean, no memory tweak, overclock or something?

Video games are bad for you? That's what they said about rock'n'roll...

Ah, Windows 8 is the issue ... ;)

All kidding aside, uninstall everything and reinstall everything from scratch.  And follow the instructions to the T.

All of us that have installed TTW have not had this issue unless we were not following the instructions or something else in the system is causing this problem.

I installed this version and last version without any problems once I made sure to follow the instructions.

It could be a heating error.

It could be a heating error. BSAOpt pushes the processor to the max.

That makes a lot of sense!  Heat problems would definitely shut down a machine.
