Infinite Loading Screen

Post by melgrimm » Sat Jun 07, 2014 5:58 pm

On my most recent save I am encountering an infinite loading screen.  I intermittently encounter infinite loading screens when I load up a save, but usually after a computer restart I can access the save file.  On my most recent save, however, I cannot.  While I could reload an earlier save, I am worried that I will always eventually encounter the infinite loading screen thus invalidating my playthrough.  I have already restarted the game once for this same issue, believing that it may have had something to do with a buggy mod I was using.  I deleted the mod before starting a new game, but, as I stated, I have encountered the issue again.

The first time I encountered it was around Tenpenny Tower when I was doing the ghoul quest there.  This time I am encountering it at the statesman hotel while aiding Reilly's Rangers.

TTW_OutcastTrading.esp=1

TTW_StashPackOptions.esp=1

TTW_SuperMutantRebalance.esp=1

AR-29 (ZB245).esp=1

The AR-29 is just an added gun mod.  I tweaked the file myself to customize a few articles of clothing as well, but nothing should affect the games scripts as far as I know.

I had to manually change my .ini file for New Vegas when I first loaded TTW.  The Mod Manager wouldn't fully install TTW but with the couple of line edits suggested on this site under Manual Install everything seemed to work.  I have read that changing the .ini file may cause loading issues--if so, how do I fix it?  Could I generate a new .ini file?  How would I do that?  Would that invalidate my save or cause problems later when I hop the train for the Mojave?

Thanks for any support you can offer.

Hi melgrimm,

There are a couple of things we can try. First of all, we recently updated so it'd be a good idea for you to grab the most recent version of TTW from the download page. We can only realistically provide support for the most recent version.

However,

Before installing a new version you can try the following (2nd thing): move TaleOfTwoWastelands.esm farther down in your load order so it comes immediately after Zeta.esm AND move the Caravan, Classic, Mercenary and TribalPack.esms up in your load order so they load just underneath of GunRunnersArsenal.esm. That is the correct load order that you should be using.

The changes that you made to the .ini are necessary and by themselves would not cause you to have infinite loading screens, so you don't have to worry about them.

Thank you for the advice.

Thank you for the advice.  Unfortunately, changing my load order did not seem to fix the problem.  I will update to the new version of TTW as soon as I can, as well.  Are there any ideas as to what could be the cause of my wasteland woes?
