Rock-it launcher not displaying or using ammo

Post by mcdeviant » Sat Apr 26, 2014 12:10 am

Hi! First, thanks so much for making TTW. I spent 1 hour playing FO3 and 7 hours trying to fix it, vs 2-3 hours setting up TTW and 9 hours (so far) playing it.

I have just created my first Rock-It launcher. I tried to load some crap into it- cups, bottles, coffee pot, burned books etc, and it will show the item in the right-hand ammunition menu, but when I click Exit, the Rock-It displays 0/0 ammo. When I fire, it plays the animation of firing, with nothing coming out- it seems to be broken between the ammo list and the actual weapon. The Rock-It and the HUD cannot see that I have put ammo into it.

Another issue is that sometimes, it will crash the ability to fire, or access the ammo menu, or access PIP boy.

Crouching seems to release it, and drop me straight into the PIP boy menu.

I am running 2.4 with the big TTW patch (the main one) all the hot fixes listed under the alpha download, megaton walkways fix, all the stash packs, all DLC, and one or two other TTW converted mods that I don't believe will have any effect (all fixes, I think). FOSE etc. I bought them through Steam, but use the 4GB patch and a shortcut for that on the desktop to launch the game.

I have tried to take screenshots to show the ammo in the menu, and then the HUD showing no ammo, but screenshots (Steam) is not working (common issue). Anything else I need to post, just let me know.

Check the link in my sig. That will tell you what you should have posted.

You should have also searched the forums here for a similar issue.

One of your mods (it may be a bashed patch, I think thats what it was before) is messing with the ammolist of the rockit launcher. To find out which one it is load everything in FNVEdit, wind the rockit launcher in the FNV esm weapons tab and see what is editing it.

Hi Plumjuice,

Hi Plumjuice,

Sorry I'm new and didn't see that thread. I searched google first, then here, and I found someone with Rock-It crashing the game but this was due to something else. Mine doesn't crash, it just doesn't work. I didn't find a record of this issue, and clicked the new thread button without having seen the READ BEFORE ASKING guide. Apologies for the mistake.

I have attached the TTW install log.txt, and pasted the load order below. Note: I have added a few mods since starting this thread, but the few bug fixing mods listed originally were all that I was using when the issue first presented itself. Among them was NVAC which I forgot to mention. Ammo collecting FPS style was just added now, and has nothing to do with the bug.

I tried using FNV edit, but I'm afraid it's beyond my level of expertise. I hope someone can assist, or advise how to do what you said. I found the Rock-It under the Fallout 3 files on the left, looked at the info under View, and right clicked/check for errors, but didn't find anything I think, as it just said it was done a little later.

In most forum communities it is considered polite to read forum stickies before creating a new post, but it's no big deal, we got there in the end.

Basically the rock-it launcher just doesn't work as it is supposed to for some people and we haven't been able to nail down why. Press 'R' as if to reload, put a bunch of stuff in there, point it at people and pull the trigger, does it hurt them? If so, we have a graphical issue, if not, I have no idea. The ammo counter doesn't work at all because there is no easy way to make it work, its mostly there because we can't disable it.

Are you using any graphics mods that don't have an associated ESP? Specifically pip-boy or animation replacers?

Hi Jax, thanks for joining

Hi Jax, thanks for joining the thread.

I have no graphical mods at all.

I have just experienced the no-menu-on-load-screen issue I commented on here (so should be bumped up to the top), and fixed it by resetting all graphical settings to defaults and verifying the Steam files.

I loaded up the game and placed four books in my ammo list (R). When I fire, nothing comes out, the ammo list does not change, and the people I shoot at do not react at all.

Well I guess the first step

Well I guess the first step is to disable all mods except for TTW (also disable all of the TTW fix mods, so that you load order stops at TTW.esm).

How does it work then?
