Outcast Trading Issue

Post by commoner31 » Wed Mar 25, 2015 12:32 pm

System Specs (including Operating System, Processor, and Memory, nobody cares about your graphics card)

OS Name    Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter

Version6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601

Total Physical Memory16.0 GB

ProcessorIntel(R) Core(TM) i7-2700K CPU @ 3.50GHz, 3500 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)

Graphics Card: Nobody Cares

Mod Manager and Version

FOMM Ver 0.14.11.9

TTW Install Log (My Documents\my games\TaleOfTwoWastelands\Install Log.txt)

http://pastebin.com/qFztCHsh

Current Load Order (Most mod managers have a quick and easy way to export this)

http://pastebin.com/vbvywiHq

Symptoms (What is it doing vs. What you expect it to be doing)

Trying to trade with Casdin

No merchant menu is presented when I ask to trade.

What you have already tried?

New Game - run straight to Casdin from Vault 101.

Unchecking TTW Fixes and ALL other mods except Outcast Trading

Viewing the scripts in FNVEdit in search of a mistake obvious to me, realizing they are over my head.

Poking around in the Geck, realizing I am over my head again.  Nothing obvious stands out to me as to why the merchant menu wont invoke. The needed pieces to be a merchant look to be there as far as I can tell.

Searched every thread I could find with the words Casdin or Outcast to find out if this is a known issue.

Additionally, we'd like to have some information on your specific version of Fallout 3:

Original Disks

What havent I tried:

Complete rebuild and reinstallation of TTW.  Do you guys see any value in that?

Praying to almighty Baal to smite my technical issues.

Ok, I have completely rebuilt the mod using the most recent installer.

I verified that no old files we left in the destination directory.

Then I reinstalled using the optional files FOMOD generated by the new installation.

Issue persists.

Casdin responds with "Lets see what you got," then I am returned to the conversation tree.

I dont lose my inventory.  I dont see a merchant screen.  I dont get any reputation message.

we'll force jax to look at that then.

I just tried. With a clean game, I can't reproduce this. Make sure you have the most recent version of NVSE and try again.

Jax, your are a gentleman and a scholar.

Updated to beta version 4.6b1 and the problem is gone.

Thank you very much for the help.

May I make a request?  Can a blurb be added to the Alpha download page, or where ever appropriate reminding people that one of the requirements is NVSE?  At least for the optional plugins.

Not for me, now I know, but for posterity?

My information is dated, but I remember you guys discussing in the past that NVSE was not a requirement.

If what I am asking for exists somewhere already, I apologize.

I tried to read all possible documentation before bothering anyone.

I KNOW what a pain it is when people dont RTFM, then complain about functionality.

Actually the installer

Actually the installer automatically downloads and installs NVSE now, but it only downloads what is on the NVSE homepage, so in this particular case that's the cause.
