TTW 2_4a no menu

Post by A55K1KA » Sat Apr 05, 2014 5:19 am

!Solved!

I used a troubleshooting Process I came up with to determine the root cause of the menu not showing, then extracted the original version of that file into my data folder keeping normal structuring. Here is a link to the Troubleshooting process i came up with.. http://www.taleoftwowastelands.com/comment/2146221462

If you do the instructions in the link above, make sure you DO NOT stop even if it starts working, and remember to bring back any information regarding which esm combinations worked and didnt work, and then make a post on the forums. not only can this help you narrow down the cause but also others here.

Once you find the ESM(S) causing the no menu issue, you might want to try placing files from the original BSA's to try and fix the issue, however be sure to use a Mod manager to do this, and do a small amount of files at a time so you can safely install and uninstall the files if it is required at any point. putting the files you wish to add in attempt to fix the issue in a 7z folder in their correct structure, then using FOMM is my recommendation. If you dont do it that way you risk making the changes irreversable or hard to correct and may need to reinstall.

if you manage to find the file (if any) that caused the issue, please report it where appropriate so it can be fixed in the future. (include any relevant information as usual).

!End Solution!

*I have edited this post to display all of the new information related to my issue so it is easier to read in the future*

I am getting no menu when launching TTW, unless i disable TTW (unable to test TTW's ESM to find out if there is an issue there, due to its masters having issues) , BrokenSteel.ESM, PointLookout.ESM and ThePitt.ESM. ( game launches fine with out those 4 ESM files ticked in the loadorder).

I have tried everything I could find on the forums with no luck so far and Chucksteel said I should post this topic.

My load order matches the one on the installation page for TTW.

I am using the steam (downloaded) version of FO3 GOTY, and a steam activated retail version of NV (UK) with all the DLCs.

My computer is a windows 7 64bit with 16GB RAM and a intel i7-4770 CPU @3.40GHz.. Also running a Nvidia Geforce GTX 780Ti with the latest drivers.

I have tried installing the files with FOMM and also manually many times, every time is the same.

I am running a completely new install of NV and FO3 with no mods and no previous save data.

Ini edits are done as per the insructions on the installation page for TTW

Did you try having the installer create the fomods then installing them with an LAA FOMM?

Its just that the install log doesnt say it made them. The ini edits are only necessary if you do a manual install.

EDIT: Saw your question in offtopic about older versions of TTW. Essentially, they arent supported or archived in any way. There might be someone who still has it who could give it to you through mediafire or something but dont expect ANY help if you use it. It is simply not feasible for a small dev team to tech support multiple ALPHA versions.

I assume by LAA FOMM you mean the exe swap mentioned in the installation page?

I tried that but FOMM wouldnt launch for some reason

*EDIT*

I reinstalled FOMM and got the exe swap to work, but didnt fix my issue.

I looked at your install log and the installer choked before it could finish. Try running the installer again and post the new install log.

Much better. It finished that time. So follow the instructions on the Alpha page from step 6 and you should be good.

The 'anti-piracy' check is just a MD5 hash on the files to ensure they are exactly identical to what the installer expects, so that it doesn't mess anything up. The hashes can be found in "resources\TTW Data\TTW Patches\TTW_Checksums.txt" in the installer folder. Check and see if yours are the same.
