Easiest way to manage multiple Installs?

Post by RenegadePronoun » Wed Mar 05, 2014 12:35 am

Hey folks, (another) avid mod-player here.  TTW has come a long way in a short while, and I'd like to play around with it and maybe also help find/reproduce/verify bugs.

So my main question is, what would be the easiest way for me to keep a vanilla install of FO3 and FNV, a TTW with bare essentials, and a TTW w/ whatever mods I try to break it with?

I've got plenty of HDD space, so that's not an issue.  Oh, and I'm on Win 7 x64 using Steam GOTY/Ultimate versions of both.

Thanks for the help!

what I do is install the game, rename the steam\steam apps \common\Fallout new Vegas Folder to Fallout New Vegas Clean. then I have steam verify the game. since it can't find Fallout New Vegas Folder it reinstalls the game. then I rename that install to Fallout New Vegas TTW.

by changing the name of the folders back and forth between clean and Fallout New Vegas or TTW and fallout New vegas I can play both versions of the game.

this works for NMM, FOMM and steam without issue as they all look for the Seam\steam apps\common\ fallout New Vegas folder.

With this method you can have as many versions of FNV or FNV TTW as you want. At one point I had 5 versions of TTW installed so I could cross check TTW issues. surprise

Thanks, that sounds like an easy solution.

A lot easier solution than configuring multiple profiles in ModOrganizer, anyway.  I wasn't looking forward to that, let me tell ya.
