Your version of Fallout3.esm cannot be patched....

Post by medickvhs » Thu Feb 13, 2014 7:05 am

I was having issues since installing TTW 2.4, so I went back to the drawing board. I pulled out my FO3 retail disc (the GFWL version), redownloaded my DLC from GFWL, reinstalled them all, and finally patched to 1.7. Now every time the installer pops out the same error message when it hits Fallout3.esm.

I have already tried using my key to claim on Steam, but surprise, no success. I rebooted, still got the error running the installer. I never had this error before reinstalling the files (including a 2.4 install which was suffering infinite menu load, hence the attempt to provide fresh files) and used to successfully run 2.2. Anyone have any idea what's going on and how I might resolve it?

Same problem here ...

I have FO3 on DVD (Game Of The Year Edition - all DLCs included) ... fresh install with German language ...

Edit:

Going to reinstall with English language ... and switching off Japanese machine settings ...

ReEdit:

Can´t be helped ... the DVD seems to be locked to German language ... no button to change language and the machine-setting doesn´t effect the installation ...

Any ideas how to get around this issue ?

Everything is english, US Patch to 1.7

Also not a fan of the idea of having to spend $20 to rebuy what I already own. The mod's literature says any purchased version of FO3 and it's DLC will work, but if the solution is we have to buy Steam copies that literature needs to be changed to reflect that.

Well, see, for most people it does work. A member of the team uses GFWL and it works. Something is wrong on your end. We are glad to try to help, but don't come in here getting all pissy because I told SOMEONE ELSE they needed to buy steam.

I'm sorry, I had the topic posted nearly a week ago and had to bump it with a fresh log to get any response. Just rather frustrated.

All good, you would be surprised how rarely people apologize without at least a sarcastic comment.

The fact that it's bitching about Fallout3.esm is the weirdest part. I know you said that you just reinstalled, but something has definitely gone wrong. Run the 1.7 patch for FO3 again, then run the TTW installer again and see if the same error pops up. If it does, reinstall ALL of FO3 and try the TTW installer again. If it STILL pops up the same error, then I am at a loss.

Be warned, I'm not accusing you, but if you ARE using a pirated FO3, be warned that we have inadvertently stumbled upon copy protection apparently better than Beth used. Pirated copies are very likely to not work and a lot of the people who have install problems have generally been discovered to have pirated copies. Again, not accusing, just keep it in mind.
