Your version of Fallout3.esm cannot be patched....

I have the Game of the year version of FO3 on DVD. The last time I did a clean install, I thought I would take a shortcut. I installed DVD 1, then copied all the DLC files from the old folder. The TTW installer failed on Fallout3.esm. It turns out that you need to run the installer on the 2nd DVD because it updates Fallout3.esm also. Just an FYI.

Just wanted to show you something to assure you that you aren't wasting your time on someone who pirated the game so I attached a couple images, 1 a pic of my game box and the other a screenshot of the DLC packs on my GFWL account.

Rerunning the 1.7 patch didn't change anything, trying another fresh FO3 install now.

So, when having this problem and reinstalling it appears you MUST do a clean install either by deleting the entire game folder before installing or by installing to a new folder. It seems something about the process of overwriting the existing files changes the files enough that it caused the 2.4 installer to toss an error message.

Now hopefully this resolves the issue that caused me to attempt a fresh start in the first place!

That´s no good ...

I do have a legal copy of FO3 ... but "spiced it up" with a blood-patch, as the German version was "cleaned" of blood and gore ... this patch dealt with the GFWL as well ... so I did not have to register ... and as I wanted to play FO3 with my customized mods again after TTW-install ... I made a backup of the games folder ... and kept the old saves ...

Correct me if I´m wrong ... I HAVE to delete EVERYTHING from FO3 on my HDD ... including saves and settings ... to make a really fresh and clean (re)install ... then I can install the 1.7-UK-Patch and it MIGHT overwrite the German fo3.esm ... so that the TTW-installer runs to it´s end ... but NO GUARANTEE ???

Btw ... the Steam version (for Germany) is cleaned as well ... meh

If it is cleaned it won't work. You might try to use a proxy or something to get a non-censored copy, or something.

Then I´m f*c!ed ...

Trying to DL over a proxy won´t work ... my internet is to slow ... I would have a forced disconnect before the DL is complete ==> altering my IP randomly ==> DL aborted ... trying to "recover" the cleaned ESM with a Bloodpatch ... will alter other files as well in a way, that the TTW-installer will abort installation ...

Until I happen to get an oversea-version of FO3 (goty-ed.) ... TTW will stay nothing more than a dream to me ...

Got the cleaned DVD over Amazon ... so it is no option ...
