horizon not rendering

Post by defaeror » Sun Jul 13, 2014 5:05 am

So, thanks to the new patch and some better information on a couple of threads, I finally got TTW working and i'm loving it so far.  Unfortunately, when i got out of the vault the gorgeous vista I was expecting just...wasn't there.  As i took a few steps forward i realized that I could very clearly see the sphere where it begins rendering the environment (for instance i could see the overpass materialize above me as i approached it), but there was nothing in the far distance.  No DC skyline, no Tenpenny Tower or anything else.  It has been years since i've played fo3, i could just be misremembering, but I'm pretty sure you could see some kind of landmarks in the distance, right?

I wasnt able to find similar issues here, though i was having a pretty hard time thinking of keywords to search for.  Otherwise the game is working fine.  I've got some mods running, but this happens with only the bare necessities for TTW.  Any help very much appreciated :)

Try 'LOD.' It could be you installed from a .fomod and not everything was installed. It could be the installer itself didn't finish packing Fallout3 - misc.bsa and or Fallout3 - meshes.bsa depending on if you let your computer fall asleep during the install process. Providing the install log (located in mygames\taleoftwowastelands) would be helpful, here.

You can try the following, though if it's either of the above you should 1) try a manual installation and 2) run the installer again:

Copy the .dlod settings from Fallout - misc.bsa from your Fallout 3 installation to your NV data folder.
