Alternative FO3 installation

Hello. I'm just wondering if it would be possible to install TTW from an installation of FO3 from an external HD. I already have FO3 and the DLC's bought on disk the day they came out. Thing is I now have a new PC and I don't want GFWL installed on it. Now I was thinking would it be possible to fire up my old computer, plug in the external HD and install everything required on that instead. Then, on my new computer, plug in the external and run the installer and point it towards where it's located on the external HD. I already have New Vegas installed on the new one.

I see no reason why that wouldn't work. So long as your game files are legit and up to date. The installer will throw an error saying that it cannot automatically detect the location of Fallout 3. Point it to Fallout 3 and choose an install directory for TTW and all should go well.

Excellent, thanks. Yep, it's just to avoid installing GFWL from the FO3 disk on my new PC. Seeing as I never liked the thing and it's in decline now. TTW would be absolutely perfect to allow me to have a nostalgic run through of FO3 and avoid it.

Success, with a little jiggery pokery.

Cannot get MMM to work with it though, for some reason I get to the main screen with the ranger holding the pistol but there is no writing to start new game, load, settings, exit...nothing, just the picture. Wierd. Oh well, just have to play without it. Unless someone has any idea why that's happening

You need to properly convert mods from fallout 3 to work with ttw. There's a thread with a converted and merged file for marts mutants on the site. Just scroll down until you reach rickerhk's post near the bottom
